Kinda made me laugh at how much has changed since then, and how little money I have because of it. I blame Salar and Dennis completely |

I've been lurking for a while
My old username was Junchul, that I posted with in the Original photography thread, way back when.
I'm still a beginner, but there are times when I do capture a pretty nice looking shot. Just bought a DSLR in the last few weeks, and also picked up a Sony H50 to carry around for some quick snapshots.
Biggest thing I'm trying to learn more of, is just the basic/advanced camera functions. I mean basic. I think my compositions are good, I just don't know how to use the cameras... literally. Full auto mode here =P
Mananetwork, I think you work at EA too? Teach me the functions, and I'll buy you lunch |

I've been lurking around for a while, posting the odd pic. I was diagnoised with high blood pressure and my doctor thinks it's due to stress, so I figured I'd take up photography as a hobby to chill out. I bought my first DSLR last summer, a Nikon D40x because it was cheaper than a Canon XTi, I liked the way it felt in my hands, and my buddy shoots Nikon, so I figured I could borrow all his gear.
I've learned a lot from the people here and I look forward to learning more from you guys. I really enjoyed those old Technique of the Month threads that used to be posted, hopefully someone can post some if they have time. I think I got my theory down, just need to go out and practise. I would like to improve my post processing skills with Photoshop, if anyone has any good tutorial sites, techniques/tips, that would be greatly appreciated.

Hi! I am usually lurking around this forums to look at the amazing photos, and to try and read the C&C's. I'm not too into photography, but I do enjoy taking random photos on vacations, and random moments that I find amusing.
Most of the time I'm using P&S. I started out with a Nikon 885 P&S and then I moved on to a casio exilim ex-z60, and more recently got a fuji Z20), or when I'm feeling fancy, my father has a Nikon D70 and a D200. He went from a Nikon 990 to a Ricoh Caplio R5 (which broke not too long ago) He also has a Leica D-lux3, and more recently purchased a Leica V-lux1.
I've always told him it's not all about the equipment

Ok I guess I'll introduce myself since I'm on RS all day everyday. Anyway, my name is Greg and i've been on RS for about 4 or 5 years now. I started off buying and selling car parts for my CRX when I first signed on. Nowadays though I find myself in the photography forums trying to soak in some knowledge in photography. I've always been into photography but have never been inspired to jump into the DSLR world until the birth of my daughter. Ever since then I haven't been able to put my camera down. I'm even thinking of making a living in this field. I plan to attend some RS photography meets in the near future so please keep me posted. I haven't really met anyone on here besides DENNY and JUSTIN. Anyway, i don't wanna ramble on much longer, I hope to meet some of you guys soon and keep up the good work. I'm loving the pics!

Ecchiecchi =D
Name's Sidney.. Started liking photography when I got my first camera phone back in 2003. I've been taking pics of whatever eversince. At around 2006, my brother bought a DSLR and had me play around with it. Suffice to say, I was in love. Bought a BN Canon 400D back in May 2007 but I didn't really start taking a lot of photo until I procured a Tamron 17-50mm F/2.8.
I know the basics and have a book that i read for reference and techniques, but even then, I feel that my photos are still pretty lacking.
Just yesterday, my boss asked if I wanted to take photos for the company. His proposal was for me to take a photos of stuff they request, which they would then look through. He offered to pay me $10 for each photo they like. Sounds like a rip-off but since I'm just a beginner, I think it's a good opportunity since I don't know what the industry standards are.... Any opinions? =)
Anyways... here's a link to my flickr album: http://www.flickr.com/photos/skecchi
Any comments and criticism would be lovely.
Would also love to meet some of you people someday. lol
... and damn... photography is really killing me... so far I have over 5K worth of lense on my wish list. =/ Canon USM L 85mm F/1.2 (or Canon 50mm F/1.4), Canon L USM IS 70-200 F/2.8, Tokina 11-16mm F/2.8 Wide Angle. TT_TT

hey guys, my name's david. I first got into photography when i got my first point and shoot camera 8 years ago. It was the Canon S30 3.2MP camera (3.2MP was HUGE back then). My mom took that camera on a trip and it was stolen then replaced by a Canon s50 (which i still have today). I've always been into taking pictures of cars, but after lurking on this forum and looking at everyone's amazing photos, i've wanted to bring my photography skills up a notch. I bought my first DSLR last year, a Canon 350D and i've been practicing a lot with that.
My dad has always been into photography as well so i've been learning a lot through him. He's got a shit load of leica gear as well as a nikon D200.
One thing i really want to learn from this thread is how to post process my photos better. Some of them look great straight from the camera, but there are always the ones that would benefit from that little extra photoshop magic. I've got a stack of books on both lightroom and photoshop CS3 that i've been reading up on and i can't wait to show you guys some of my work. |

David, one recommendation I'd make (for you and others) is to check out Picasa. It's a nice little free photo organizer/viewer/editor from Google; it has easy uploading to Picasa Web Albums and Google Blogger (plus there's a cool plugin for one-button upload to Facebook), and it has some excellent basic editing functions - crop, straighten, auto-color, auto-contrast, basic exposure controls, etc. The auto functions are some of the best I've seen, when it comes to automatic photo-fixing. AND the new beta of version 3 includes text overlay and automatic watermarking.
For quick tweaks and posting of your pictures, Picasa really is da bomb. It's not CS3, but it doesn't try to be.

Hey my name is Vincent and I started shooting with my powershot s45 5 years ago? I dont remember.
Then I got into the SLR game and got a 300d from skinnypupp. been using that for the past 3-4 years till I got my 40D last week.
I just shoot casually...sometimes I go months without shooting. But when I do feel inspired I SHOOT a lot.
As for lenses, I have a Tamron 28-75mm f/2.8 and a Canon 10-22mm
I'm hoping to get a spare battery, a 70-200mm F/4 IS and a 580ex speedlite next.
oh i hate editing photos so it takes me a long time to edit after I shoot.

^ i heard alot of people using the sterlingtek batteries. They have a higher capacity than the OEM canon ones. People have been using them for years on their camera's without any issues. You can get 2 batteries for like $30 + shipping.
Just taking editing photos a better way of seeing what you have taken and experiment with new post processing techniques.
