S3's are $250 on a 2yr and eligible for the $56 plan. Also, first month free.

That scheme with the MaxPlan didn't last very long...lol

I got a good corporate plan offer from Rogers, but wouldn't mind staying with Fido if they can match/beat Rogers' plan.

$55:
350 Anytime Minutes
Unlimited incoming
Unlimited E & W @ 6pm
Unlimted Text, Picture & Video messaging
Caller ID
Voicemail
3GB data
I'm on the same boat. My work has a corporate plan with Rogers and will also subsidize my Rogers phone bill, so I used that as leverage with Fido just now.

Before:
1 year into my 3 years contract
$17.50 retention plan
$10 value pack
$30 6GB

Called, asked about cancellation fee if I go to Rogers. Immediately transferred to Retentions. Retentions said that I could go to Rogers and the cancellation fee is waved since I am 1 year into my contract, but counter-offered me something else:

Now:
Cancel the remaining 2 years for $140
Start a new 3 years with the following:
$25 promo plan (150 daytime, unlimited sms, mms, call display, mini voicemail)
$5 50 daytime minutes
$5 credit for above for 3 years
$30 6GB
$5 credit for above for 3 years
HUP to Samsung Galaxy S3 using FidoDollars, waived HUP $25 fee (sold the S3 just now too to a friend!).

Total is $50+HST for the next 3 years. Quite happy. So yes, do use Rogers and "corporate plans" as leverage as long as you are 1 year into your contract.

This is my current plan at the moment...

$17.50 EPP Plan
-200 minutes
-Unlimited Evenings and Weekends starting at 5pm

$10 Unlimited Incoming

$10 Value Pack
-2500 Text Messages
-Voice Mail
-Caller ID

$30 6GB Data

I have $15 dollars in credits.
-$10 monthly credit
-$5 data credit

And the total I pay per month is 52.50 before taxes

Was thinking about switching to the $25 holiday plan, but I would lose out on the unlimited incoming and billing by the second, but gain the unlimited picture messaging and Canada long distance.

Any opinions on this?

Most people have been successful getting the holiday promo $25 + $30 6GB -$5 credit for a total of $50 + tax per month. Some have even been able to get another 50 bonus minutes for a total of 200 mins daytime.

I read this from rfd's fido retention thread

Don't forget this promo plan include canada wide calling and unlimited msg to international so its actually pretty good.

I'm one of the example. There are also people who got $10 credit instead of just $5. I wish you guys good luck!

By calling 611, press 2, tell the person you want to switch to a competitor because you are paying too much.

611, then 2. Call in to "cancel" and you will get retentions right away 99% of the time. A $5 credit is almost a given if you are willing to renew on a new 2 year contract. Probably would be considered LITTLE because I was able to get $10 credit without too big of a hassle.

I heard from my friend that Fido doesn't do flex-plans anymore?

I pretty have everything the $56 value pack have with talk and text. But no data and I'm paying $25. I want to add 1GB of date onto my current talk and text plan but customer service said no and i should just get the value pack. Which means I'm paying an Extra $31 for 2GB of data.

Should I threaten to cancel and switch to Wind? Cancelling my contract only cost $148 which i'm willing to do so if I have to.

Anyone know how the $10 Canada Wide Unlimited Calling Add on work?

Is it only for making calls in Vancouver to other Canadian Cities or is it for me to make and receive call anywhere in Canada.

ie: 604 number calling/receiving calls in another province or 604 number only calling / receiving within Vancouver

This page explains it pretty well: Local Calling Areas | Coverage and Roaming | Get Support | Fido.ca

Also, don't forget that the unlimited canada-wide calling only applies when you are on the Fido network. If you aren't, roaming charges will apply.

This was my plan that I activated thru retention in Sept 2012:

$25 Standard Plan (150 Mins; Unlimited Evening/Weekends; Unlimited Text Messages)
$25 Data Addon (2GB data)
$8 Call Display Bundle
$0 50 Bonus Minutes
-$5 Credit: Monthly Fee Discount
-$5 Credit: $5 Data Discount
-$4 Credit: Call Display Discount
Total: $44 + tax

As most of you might know, they revamped their plans recently and they all include unlimited multimedia messaging. So I called in two weeks ago to have it added to my plan. I asked the representative if it costs anything extra, and she said no. I double confirmed again with her by asking "So I'm adding MMS for free right?", and she responded yes. Yesterday I checked my bill, and they removed my two -$5 and now it costs $54+tax. I called in today asking for my discounts back, and the rep told me that it was considered an upgrade and I lose discounts to it. I even told her I asked the rep two weeks ago that I won't get charged extra, but the rep today said I upgraded therefore discounts expired along with the old plan.

Does anyone know if this is true, that I lose my discounts from adding MMS? How come I lost the discount for data also? I didn't make any changes to my data add on.

Any input appreciated!

Yes, you lose discounts when you change plans. Since they changed your plan, your discounts are gone with your old plan.

The only way to retain existing discounts when changing plans is to get Retentions dept to do it for you. They can change your plan and add the credits back on it. Otherwise, normal CSR will remove your discounts.

Thank you for the information.

I'm positive that the agent didn't tell me it was considered a plan change, also she didn't tell me about the credits removal. Do you know if it's possible to use this reason to get my credits back?
