Vansterdam 01-05-2016 06:08 PM

been paying 55$ after taxes for my 6gb/baseplan for the last like 7 years with the last few being off contract..and just noticed my bill jumped up to 70$ the last few months lol wtf. apparently I had credits that just expired and the dude said he couldent help me whatsoever because its a old grandfathered plan. not even if I sign a new contract would the price drop

anything similar happen to you guys? prob switch to the koodo 48$ plan with 1gb less

Not sure if it's brought up in this thread.. but Fido is no longer giving out Fido Dollars if you switch to a new plan. You will keep on getting Fido Dollars if you already are as of now.

Not only that, you only have till July 6, 2016 to redeem your Fido dollars, for people on monthly plans.

Yes, only phone upgrades

for a while they allowed it to be used for add-ons like long distance etc but I think they changed it.

why bother? its a waste unless you spend it on a phone

LaidbacK 02-19-2016 10:58 AM

If you've accumulated a decent amount of fido dollars, then the best course of action would be to use it to buy a phone outright (it should be unlocked), and then resell it.

iam_dan 03-13-2016 01:37 PM

got shafted.

called in for early upgrade.
agent said they would write notes on my file and waive early renewal device renewal fee.
i get to a fido store to pick up phone they said i needed to pay early renewal fee.
called fido and they said i was out of luck cuz its not possible to waive it and the agent didnt make any notes at all.
i was very polite about it but agent on the phone wouldnt transfer me to retention.

racerman88 03-13-2016 08:58 PM

Did you get a reference number for your call?
Always ask for one.

iam_dan 03-14-2016 08:05 PM

didnt ask for one, but i was told they researched the notes...and the first person who promised me no charge for renewal device fee was flat out wrong... so they cannot honor that deal

Doesn't matter if their rep promise something they have to honor it. Otherwise all the rep can just BS their way and straight out lie to customer. I would say call them back and keep requesting to get to the higher up till they are able to do what they promise. And they will if you put the effort. Sapm their fb page and their tw.

smoothie. 03-15-2016 07:49 AM

get them to transfer you to retentions

they can listen to the recordings

theres no way theyre getting away with that one

my upgrade fee was waived easily though retentions

Question... I received a company phone and don't need to pay for a phone anymore, so I'm considering giving up my personal phone

I have one of these grandfathered plans...
- unlimited talk "local canada wide"
- unlimited msg'ing / mms etc
- visual voicemail and caller ID
- 6gig data
= $73 + tax = $82/ month

You think I can transfer this plan to a friend?

It is possible, you would just have to go to a retail store with the other person with 2 government ID's provided most likely.

SSM_DC5 04-15-2016 11:49 AM

Is your friend willing to take over your number? I don't think they allow porting numbers for what you want to do.

etodac 04-17-2016 12:38 PM

Fido Dollars expire July 6. I called and I could either use it to get a phone or travel pack. Has anyone been about to use it for other things?
