Most likely, but I don't like how you have to stretch your finger to change settings, whereas on Nikon or Sony cameras, the buttons are within easy reach.

try http://www.multipleelectronics.com/

now i have never been to the store
but they advertised the following package for $2799 earlier today and after i called..in they changed it to $3599

body+24-105 f4L+430EXII flash

good deal still..and thinkin if i should get it

beware of this place, they don't offer refunds for purchases and not even an instore credit/exchange even with a receipt (like you would get say at futureshop) and also, they try to scam you of your original box (ie: say they need the UPC for warranty) or whatever, and just throw in a free camera bag for you.

take this with a grain of salt though, as this is what my friend told me from his personal experience

I bought my camera from multiple electronics 2 or 3 years back now. The customer service is very much so less than desirable and they are extremely pushy on selling you on additional accessories (he belittles you and almost implies that you're an idiot for not agreeing to purchase his suggested accessories). I bought from here only because it was cheaper than other locations. Next time around I think I'd rather pay more for better people to deal with

Most people don't realize that mark ups on cameras and lenses are in the 10% - 15% range. Accessories are marked up from 35% - 100%.

Anyone interested in a 5d mark 2 w/ grip??
I just picked up my order today at Broadway Camera.
After taxes its about $3900. I just want whatever I paid for it.
Shoot me a PM if you're interested or know someone that is.
Reason for selling is that I'de rather have the cash at this point in time.
I bought this thinking I was gonna get it when it first came out and that I could make
a quick buck on ebay. But 2 weeks later, they don't hold the same value.

Senna4ever 12-19-2008 04:13 PM

Heh...you aren't the only one. The first 2 weeks it was a trickle, but now canon is sending us about 20 a week. Got 2 Nikon D3x in today....and they were gone within a few hours. Holy shit, the D3x with the 24-70 f2.8 is amazingly sharp corner to corner.

Mananetwork 12-19-2008 04:14 PM

Better be for 8 fucking thousand dollars!

Senna4ever 12-19-2008 11:56 PM

Yes, it is. It's way better than the 1Ds MkIII though. The pros don't care about the price much. They can recoup their costs easily and it can be written off as a business expense.

Interesting side note: We tested the new 50mm f1.4 against the new 24-70mm f2.8 and... the 24-70mm f2.8 at 50mm is SHARPER than the 50mm prime at almost all apertures! Of course, we were pixel peeping, but the difference was noticeable in the D3x NEF files. It looks as if Nikon didn't update the optics of the 50mm. They just added the N coatings, AF-S and G designation it seems.

They came and went!

Bonjour43MA 12-20-2008 12:48 AM

Holy cow they're in stock already!??!?!?

Damn Nikon's moving fast these days... I remember a few years back when it would take at least 4 or 5 months to see the cameras available after they've been announced... now it's almost within weeks or 1 month.

I've downloaded some offical samples of the 24mp files and they were f-king amazing.

I'd still take a D3 over this though... but obviously I'm not the target market for the D3x. lol

Senna4ever 12-22-2008 11:48 PM

Who wants one? :D

I dunno, My 50d was pretty simple to use compared to my d300. Maybe it will take a while to figure it out but I've been using my d300 for about 2 weeks now and it doesn't feel as easy to use as the 50d.

MikesJo 12-23-2008 11:53 PM

I think Canon's UI is pretty solid. You can pick it up and pretty much figure it out.

endless402 12-24-2008 10:10 AM

everything is in the switches for the d300

Tim Budong 12-24-2008 11:14 AM

played around with the mark2 2day...
holyshit
ever so..heavy..yet feels solid

tweakynuts 12-24-2008 11:55 AM

lol the d3x better be better than the 1dsmrk3 since its like a year and a half later. thats like generations apart in the digital world. i was really upset when i got my 1dsmrk3 and heard about the 5d mrk2 until last week. did a shoot under 3200 and got crisp prints without any noise on 11x17s. but then again im sure all other high iso/mp cameras nowadays do that aswell.

Meowjin 12-24-2008 01:52 PM

It's not. I've heard that from several pro nikon users.

ive never used nikon before so i can't say which is better but really tho, the 1dsmrk3 is pretty fail. image quality wise its not that much different than my 5dmrk1. of course u get almost double the mp blah blah but... i dont need that. the pro body does have a lot more toys tho. but the body is kinda small

The 1D mkII feels solid. The 5D mkII feels like cheap plastic...it's not heavy at all.

Use both for yourself before saying anything. The D3x is amazing for what it can do. The 5D is so slow. It's the slowest camera in its price class, and slower and less responsive than even some cheaper DSLR's. The price difference is a lot for the consumer, but doesn't matter much to the working pro.
