my JDM import engine check light fails to illuminate under any conditions.....

changed bulb and tested the circuit swapped a ECU.....nothing.

and it fails aircare! oh joy! Gonna have to go through the repair facility route in the summer near when I need to get it aircared for the first time.

for now, EAT MY EMISSION when I ricer fly by you in my twin turbo V6 family sedan buwahahahahahahaha.

aircare is the only thing keeping ricers off the roads.
Aircare +1

how can adding a timpo bodykit, ricer lights and muffler tip make your car perform worse?

!LittleDragon 01-23-2009 11:52 AM

I passed with gutted cats this year..

falcon 01-23-2009 12:02 PM

had a hard time passing a skyline.

retarded the timing, changed the spark plugs, and 16 L of Methyl Hydrate (THIS IS THE TRICK!) and running on the freeway for 45min at 4-5k RPM and it passed with FLYING colors. below all the averages.

after adding the methyl hydrate, the results dropped 5 POINTS!

it makes no sense for them to kill it completely and just leave it like that

I would rather have a VI system than aircare. I would get so many shitboxes off the road. Some cars I see... I don't even understand how they stay on the road.

16L!?!? You mean run 1L inside 16L of gas? I'd be too scared to run methyl hydrate as the only fuel in the car.....can anyone verify this?

Volvo-brickster 05-13-2009 09:20 PM

i managed to pass aircare with my exhaust pipe held on by a bungee cord

it melted and fell off when the guy kicked the tester hose off the pipe, but i dont care

im good for 2 years

and yes air care is lame

im with Great68...its so stupid when a simple turn of a screw on the carbuerator is the difference between a fail and a pass

thats how my 1980 volvo used to pass air care...go to the mechanic, he would fiddle with it for a bit, i roll to air care and it would barely idle and sometimes die on the dyno but after i pass, go back to the mechanic and he sets it back to normal

some_punk 05-13-2009 09:39 PM

Make sure they enter your mileage correctly. The last time I was there, I was arguing with the guy for a long time to get him to change the mileage. My odometer says 13400km and he adds another zero on it and says it is fine it wont affect your reading. I tell him that I dont care, fix it I dont want stuff like carfax flagging my car cause of your fucking mistake. and he still says the same thing. THen I just started to yell at him until his supervisor came out.

hk20000 05-13-2009 09:51 PM

I'm trying to pass my V6 TT machine like this:

run 5 cylinders (drop one injector clip)
run open loop (unplug that O2 sensor, cuz with it the car will try to compensate for the missing cylinder)
run 20L of methyl hydrate on 10L of gas
unplug the turbo hoses so it's running normally aspirated
already has new cat and plugs.

fingers crossed this works out.

Death2Theft 05-13-2009 10:31 PM

What really ticks me off is how they send reminders to tell people to go to aircare when the cars in question are newer than 2002.

bcrdukes 05-13-2009 11:48 PM

Son of a fucking crackwhore.

I failed Aircare 4 fucking times on the MR2 yesterday and was VERY close to passing.

Fuck you, Aircare! :2finger:

LOL.

+1 on fucking aircare.. But it gives people jobs? So isn't that some sort of a plus?

death_blossom 05-14-2009 05:24 AM

it's been said once, and I'll say it again.

aircare, biggest cash grab evar!

they've been saying AirCare would be scrapped "in a few years", but an official announcement has never been made. :(

Doesn't the CEL come on when you unplug the O2? They might not even check if they see that's on.

If it's a '98 or newer with ODBII, they don't even run the normal emissions tests, they just check the OBD. A missing O2 sensor will no doubt show up there. http://aircare.ca/inspinfo-desc-obd.php

It's a 1993 the CEL is irrelevant they'll still do their simulated driving test and all results hang on that.

XtC-604 05-14-2009 10:57 AM

The best way to do this, i realize is to
a) remove testpipe
b) reinstall cat
c) detune

When you've passed, reverse the above steps

Seriously aircare is such a fucking joke, my car's emission system will be stock for a good (1hr) before it's back to "fail" aircare

bcrdukes 05-14-2009 11:06 AM

After failing so many times, I feel like I'm living in the State of California where no mods are allowed.

Yeah, having more overpaid useless fucks on the government payroll is always a plus...:rolleyes:

bcrdukes 05-14-2009 11:26 AM

They get paid along the lines of $27/hour or something like along the lines of that.

Nvasion 05-14-2009 02:27 PM
