sweet, thanks

My sister is a border services officer at YVR, and she also goes to school at SFU. They seem to be very accommodating with her schedule, and the pay is good. They actually reduced the requirement from having post-secondary to just completing HS due to the increased demand for officers. I don't know how it is now, but this was the case in the summer.

I think your sister is actually a student officer, so their requirements may be different.

A real full time officer position actually requires 2 years of post secondary to make the cut.

m3thods, can you find out the pay rate from your sister? i heard it was like $12 for students, but i wanna confirm that.

SkunkWorks 01-19-2009 09:32 PM

For a uni undergrad, pay range is:

$11.67 - $18.76

Group interview coming up next Weds Jan 28, got the invite prolly not gonna go lol. Test seems pretty basic, they even email you a PDF sample lol

I thought there was another thread commenting re: CBSA border guys making $55k and ppl making a fuss about it?? Not bad for simple gov gig in this environment though, I know alot of fresh grads would line up for a $50k+ job!

Can anyone confirm if this is correct? I heard that once you apply you get thrown in the middle of nowhere or wherever a spot is available.

Please correct me if I'm wrong, as I'd be quite interested in applying.

For the CBSA you can be pretty certain that you will remain in the lower main land. They are looking for 10,000 member for BC alone.

For the RCMP, there is a GUARANTEE that you will stay in the lower main land. Just ask your recruiter.

I just started the CBSA application process and there's a section that allows you to choose where you're willing to locate to, and where you'd like to work. Basically I selected Lower Mainland/Fraser Valley only. :D

Just wondering if anyone just recently applied??? I just got an email last week saying that I've met the prerequisite and I'll be contacted to do the BSOT. Just wondering if anyone's at the same stage as I am right now.

And wow, I didn't know they were hiring 10,000 in BC alone.

Selanne_200 02-16-2009 01:10 PM

Mmmm I don't know how long it'll be before I'll get a date tho. The application progress isn't closed until Mar 31, 2009.
