I received an email today, stating I passed the test.
Time to book an interview.
They said it will take 4-6 weeks for test results, but its only been 15 days or so.

When I did mine it only took 2 weeks for my results to be emailed

Yeah, I agree with getting a good nights sleep. And bring a watch, you got to manage your time well.

Selanne_200 04-08-2009 08:16 AM

Mmmm looks like the passing rate on the bsot is a lot higher than I thought so I guess the interview will be harder?? ANd i also heard there's a hiring slow down across all the regions as well

custum 04-08-2009 11:23 AM

The pass rate for the interview is around 20%, however, there is no way to prepare for it, so just go in there and do your best.

I'm my experience, the hardest part of this whole process was the 2 months in Rigaud. It was called a "9 week interview". It was extremely stressful because any failure in any of the examinations will send you home, without a job. However, once you pass, you got a great career.

There is NO hiring slow down in any of the regions. Especially the pacific region.

incubus 04-08-2009 11:25 AM

i guess the best thing to do in rigaud is to be ambitious?

flameboy54 04-12-2009 08:13 PM

Can someone post the link to apply for the CBSA?? I can't seem to find it. Thanks.

Selanne_200 04-14-2009 08:25 AM

Unfortunately, the last posting for the CBSA hiring was closed on Mar 31, so just keep checking the website once in a while i guess

i hope that's true. I know a few people who were told that if they pass Riguad they'll be working at YVR, but because of budget cuts they did a hiring freeze for the lowermainland and they were given a choice if they want to be posted in the Yukon or the Okanagan region.

RunningFree 04-15-2009 08:13 AM

Ah crap... I'm an idiot...

I picked up a job while I was going through the application process and forgot to submit my resume till now. Gah, I think I've missed the window!!

Anyway, good luck to those that got interviews!

just got this email

Dear candidates,

Please be advised, that currently, the only work locations to be staffed by this process are in: Northern British Columbia, the Yukon, Northern Saskatchewan and Southern Saskatchewan.

Qualified candidates who do not wish to work in the above locations will remain in a selection pool until it expires or until alternate work locations are available, whichever comes first.

It is anticipated that positions in the lower mainland will not be available until April 2010 at the earliest.

Best Regards,

custum 04-15-2009 05:52 PM

faceless you are correct, my above post was wrong.

There currently IS a hiring freeze till next year for the lower mainland. We basically just sent off the last bunch to Rigaud and they will be the last group joining the Pacific region....this is all due to budget cuts, we're gonna be so short staffed...

Sorry guys, but I'm sure hiring will fire right back up when the economy is better.
