i just got an e-mail telling me to go for the interview again.

did anyone do the full time position interview before? is it just like the student bso interview?

thx

Looks like you applied for both the student and the full time position.
so you said you failed the interview for the student..
I'm assuming the full time position interview will be somewhat similar to the questions and scenarios they give you when they did the student position interview.
Good luck on your second change.

Btw you need your CPR/first aid. PArt of the requirments for fulltime positions before they send you to Rigaud for training

gti_326 03-12-2009 08:17 PM

i dun even know how i failed tho
so i duno what to say now for the second interview lol.

really? cpr/first aid? but can i get those AFTERwards? cuz i dun wanna do it for nothing if i don't pass the interview :(

Thanks for the luck :)

gti_326 03-12-2009 08:18 PM

actually, what do they look for particularly in our answers to the situational questions anyways?

azn_boix 03-12-2009 08:56 PM

yup yeah take the CPR/first aid after you find out if you passed the interview or not.
Also you do know you also need to get a firearms safety certificate for both restricted and unrestricted firearms and PAL (i think this is the permit to carry and purchase firearms)
now this one takes quite awhile to get. I believe it's a minimum 28 day wait (can be more) for them to issue you a PAL. I feel this part might delay you.

if you can think quick off your feet and if you are confident with your answers and yourself as well.

confidence? thats all?
I thought they have a point system for marking guideline or something.
like if you mention something , you get a point. etc.

and i dun really quite know what they are looking for :S

when i tried to answer q's, i tried to show that i 'enforced the law'. but didn't seem like i was on the right track.

wonder if i could call the sbso people to ask how i failed my interview.
u think they'd tell me?

I'm not a BSO.
I'm just someone who has gone through what you are going through right now. I'm probably 2 steps ahead of you.
Just paying it forward. Helping you, the same way someone else helped me.

I don't know about asking them why you failed and what areas you failed on the interview.

Their (CBSA) interviews are the "behavioral" type interview questions. Questions would be like this (you can google them btw)
Here is one list of sample behavioral-based interview questions:

Describe a situation in which you were able to use persuasion to successfully convince someone to see things your way.

Describe a time when you were faced with a stressful situation that demonstrated your coping skills.

Give me a specific example of a time when you used good judgment and logic in solving a problem.

Give me an example of a time when you set a goal and were able to meet or achieve it.
the questions above are somewhat similar to what I was asked when I applied for work at my current company, SO I hope you have good answers to these questions as they seem pretty standard/basic.

Good luck anyways!

how long till i find out wen to write?

Ax2-Y 03-19-2009 02:41 PM

there were way more old people there then i thought there would be...

personally, if i didnt pass that test i am going to be pretty disappointed in myself

incubus 03-19-2009 03:32 PM

how was the test like? i hear its just common sense stuff

Selanne_200 03-19-2009 03:35 PM

No, the test is more than just common sense. There are different sections that will test you on different matters, such as math, grammar, memory, logic (common sense i guess), your comprehension skills, and also attention to details.

And yes, I saw a lot of ppl that i thought were a lot older than what i expect but i guess it is to be expected especially the labor market the way it is right now.

incubus 04-01-2009 08:28 PM

Wingman 04-06-2009 11:01 AM

How's the training like once you get to Quebec?
Is it like crazy boot camp where they ask you to run 8 km a day or something ?
or is it just like lectures and classes?

a little bit of both.
There's lectures on policies & procedures and also they test you on the actual thing via simulations (they have actors there to play as travellers and such)
Also there is defence tactics training as well

incubus 04-06-2009 12:29 PM

cant wait to write

best way to study sorry but im paranoid ive always wanted to do this

P 04-07-2009 04:47 PM

For the ones who took the test on March 19th, have you gotten an email back?

I received an email today, stating I passed the test.
Time to book an interview.
They said it will take 4-6 weeks for test results, but its only been 15 days or so.
