i will try that place out !

^ That place is shit. The food sucks and expensive too. I agree with the swearing, I must have heard a chef say Diu at least 10 times when I was there. The other Manzo is better, but I would still go to Nanchuu if I wanted izakaya food in richmond.

My favourite sushi places are:
1. Octopus Garden (1995 Cornwall Avenue, Vancouver)
2. Torarenbo (Granville + Cooneyish, Richmond)
3. Kiyo (5 & Cambie, Richmond)

Torarenbo isn't the freshest place, nor is it very cheap. It's selling point seems to be a decent quality vs price ratio.
For instance, a whole Uni in a shell cost around $16 last year. Depending on availability they also serve imported stuff like Monkfish liver and Chu-Toro, for reasonable prices too. But again, if you want nothing but the freshest seafood, you're better off sticking to some of the other places mentioned above in this thread.

I wouldn't go there again as I am pretty picky with my sushi.
Its more like AYCE quality than authentic sushi.
I decided to leave and eat in another restaurant when I was only 50% full. ( I have never done this before)

Everytime I've been to torarenbo so far its been pretty fresh. I don't know how it could be compared to Ayce quality.... not even close. They use sockeye too.

There used to be a restaurant called "Sakura-ya" in Richmond. It was only open for a very brief time, but it's the best Japanese food (home-cook) I ever ate outside of Japan.

I agree, Hapa wasn't really that good when I went but a lot of people seem to like it for some reason cause it's packed most of the time, for some odd reason..hahaha
But Kingyo is damn good! Although the portions are a little smaller then other Japanese Tapa places..but it's fine haha
