i think the cat on the p5 has been taking a beating all winter (the gti is parked). front splitter got ripped off. oh well. slid the right rear into the curb making a right downhill onto hemlock from w 16th though. stock wheels now have a nice rash. :( oh well. it's my mom's car. i should totally uninstall the lowered suspension for her.

Tapester 01-05-2009 10:46 AM

Well the snowplow decided to plow railway here in richmond, but he did not lift his blade when he crossed steveston highway. So i came through steveston highway and plowed through a 2 feet high barrier, ripped off my lip and took some other plastic stuff underneath out too. I saw about 3 more walls of snow on steveston highway going through gilbert and 3rd. FUCK!! Any one got a front lip for 90-91 integra? Let me know want one back on for spring.

Mugen EvOlutioN 01-05-2009 11:44 AM

fucking ran into a pile of snow and broke off one side of my front ARC splitter

If you guys get stuck, and cannot get over a stupid patch of BLACK ICE. Use your rubber floormats. It does wonders! My mom taught me that waay back when she heard it on the radio during my elementary school days.

And just the other day, we got Alphamale's fagmag out with the same trick.

Give it a shot if you're absolutely stuck.

the only problem with that is if you're really stuck, you may end up melting the rubber mats as well (happened to a friend who got stuck in the snow for over an hour...lol, shit stinks when the tire is spinning away)

underscore 01-05-2009 02:00 PM

^ well you're not supposed to just give'r! gently give is gas til you creep out or rock it back and form, dont just floor it.

lol, no doubt man, try telling that to my friend....RWD FTL on hills...

shenmecar 01-05-2009 02:19 PM

lol i saw so many of those ppl

nismosx 01-05-2009 02:29 PM

why do you guys even bother driving if ur car is too low
i dont even bother because my exhaust is like a inch or 2 off the ground
or maybe just stay on main roads ?

RabidRat 01-05-2009 08:06 PM

FUCK.

I finally got stuck last night. The snow was just too high off the ground and my exhaust and part of the chassis got jammed in there good. It wouldn't budge even a mm in either direction so I couldn't rock it out.

In the end, I had to jack up the car high enough to fit planks under the front wheels (because the drive wheels just shot the planks out), which lifted the car up high enough to get unstuck.

^ wasn't enough. I guess there just comes a point when no amount of grip can overcome a problem with clearance. :(

thelaws69 01-05-2009 08:19 PM

LOL I love my CRV.

freakshow 01-05-2009 09:38 PM

i guess i'll add to the misery.. first day it snowed, i gently slid into the sidewalk.. cracked my front bumper, curbed both wheels and messed up my alignment.. argh..

alex.w *// 01-05-2009 09:57 PM

gave up driving on the first snow day. gave it a good wash, and car is still stored till t his date. going to take it out when my sidestreet is drivable

awwww no

your car is beautiful!!!

more misery for me as well

i found out with the high snow and the low car, the exhaust is being pushed upwards into my drive shaft.

i'm not happy..

Everyone who was wishing for rain should keep this in mind: all that soft puffy snow that fell was (relatively) easy for most cars to plow through... now that the rain is soaking into it, it's getting thick and heavy and it ain't movin' for nobody.

Imagine dragging a spoon through a bowl of flour... and then trying to do it through bread dough.

Enjoy the rain!

hotjoint 01-06-2009 08:10 AM

next vehicle for me is an suv hybrid. Can't drive anywhere with my car :( my parents suv eats the snow

v1nce 01-06-2009 09:00 AM

for those who are destroying their front bumpers, do you think its worth it to buy a beater bumper to put on in the front? but keep in mind you would still be cautious about damaging and try to avoid it? (but if it does get damaged, you won't have to grief about it) it might be cheaper to go that route instead of paying like $300 each time to repair your bumper/lip when something goes bad.

i was thinking of doing that as well incase i can't find a beater for next year.

the good thing is, you can run the 'beater-bumper' for snow and also track days if you decide to track your car. but i would probably do it if you have a nice lip that can't take the beating of snow plowing.

mrclean604 01-06-2009 11:22 AM

a tow truck got stuck at work like 2 weeks ago...

replacing it with a beater bumper is a good idea. but with low cars, the exhaust and the oil pan will be the hardest hit.

underscore 01-06-2009 12:56 PM

I got high centered for the first time today, luckily I had enough momentum that I was able to slide along til my wheels got traction again haha

Ichi 01-06-2009 04:54 PM

same here once you stop completely it's over. luckily i was on a bit of a downhill. i hope it melts low enough for tomorrow morning.

alex.w *// 11-26-2010 08:24 AM

any horror stories?

i'm lowered, but i have winter tires. even if the snow is really high. the tires can still push my car through.
