As well, I do a lot of project-work in Excel developing reports and streamlining current tasks which use too much manual labour.
It pays well, and the work is mildly interesting now.
Kev | I realize I forgot to add my education. I went to college a couple of years, then realized that the CMA program was instituting a degree requirement so I quickly did my pre-reqs and passed the entrance exam. Spent two years doing my CMA, and was designated in October. Now, for any of the professional designations (CMA, CGA, or CA) you will need a degree plus 2 or 3 years depending on what designation you pursue.

Went to SFU graduated with HONS, took my CSC and CFP while working as a bank teller to work as an Financial Planner for the same institution. While I was a planner I took my CFA which was one of the most useless courses I ever took.
Ended up getting into the MF wholesaling business and then moved into institutional sales for a trust firm in New York. Learned how to day trade while in New York, failed at that. Went back to standard employment as a strategist for a mutual fund company, got proficient at day trading, decided to become extremely cheap due to fear of the party ending in the financial world and now day trade part time and work at another fund company that has been nice enough not to lay me off.

Now I own my own Server Hosting company geared towards the online gaming community.

Do remember however, that those who do have a professional degree are always in the top tier income bracket. In no way should the above message discourage people from attending University!

That's right. Don't get a degree just because your parents want you to. Figure out what interests you, and get education based on that. It may be U, college, tradeschool, or even no school. There's nothing worse than working a career doing something you don't like.

Pilot - Live far away from where I want too, in places much too cold for any sensible person.
Schooling - Went through a college which is the long route, but I have a fancy piece of paper that says Aviation Diploma on it.
But I do love my job, and I can't see myself doing anything else.

Business Development Manager (basically glorified sales) to major mining companies around world + Corporate Development/Communications Manager for several publicly traded companies.
Also assesses M&A deals and look for CPC transactions on TSX for possibilities. I was a banker (not IB) for big box bank downtown in the previous life. Enjoying the freedom of the new gig for now - shaky industry though, many layoffs in the last little while ;p

I wasnt trying to discourage University by any means. All im trying to say is figure out what you want to do after HighSchool. Figure out life, figure out your life... then lay the tracks of where you want your life to go after you figure out what your goals in life actually are.

I test cars. I had no real education when I started (I was in Grade 11), but I've since graduated high school and UBC, BA, English Literature.
And I still test cars.
