So I quit school and I’ve been in development presales ever since. In terms of education for my career, I have my license, parentals guidance (they are in the business), and just self knowledge I’ve gained over the years.

Sometimes I still ask myself if this was a smart choice but deep down I know I made the right decision. Yeah the market sucks balls right now, but I still love my career very much. Yeah I get crazies every once in awhile, but that comes with every job. It’s a good feeling to know you just changed someone’s life with a new home.

Money is (or was) good, and the hours are decent. Noon to 6pm, 5 days a week. Can’t complain.
Nice hours lol.

I work as CSR/Tech support for a laid back company. Everyone is friendly and the pay is decent for the work I do. There are no pressure or anything like that. We can watch TV surf the web or even play WoW when we have no work. Hourse is not as great since I worl 11am to 7pm so I can't do anything lol.

Planing to studying CCNA after the year is over(been saying that for years lol). Hopping to do something else in a few years.

My mistake. I thought you were doing interior design (although urban design is equally as interesting) and those were some of the floor plans you make. Gorgeous glasswork nonetheless.

Heavy industries- marine diesel engines and generator engines.
It's a glorified way of saying "parts salesman"
BA from university, but completely unrelated major, and no other work experience.
Met the right people at the right time, and here I am
I live 10 seconds from work, but unfortunately, I'm in another country from home.

While we're at it, is anyone else working in this industry? Vancouver has at least 3 big ship management companies, so I'm sure someone must know someone. This thread would be a great way to network. Nice thread!

Professional Engineer at a mechanical consulting firm.
Design mechanical, plumbing, fire protection systems for buildings.
Good variety of work; design, meet with clients, field visits.
It's also satisfying to see what you draw up get built.

I have a BASc from UBC. Desiring partnership before hitting 50, so I'm also doing an MBA at UBC part time starting January.

Get her to check out the Hotel Restaurant Management program at CAMOSUN COLLEGE in victoria.
I did the program in 2002, 2 yearprogram that qualifies for the first 2 years of COMMERCE degree.

Have worked in restaurants & hotels for the past 14 years. Started out as a BUSBOY in Victoria, waiter, manager, Managed the Restaurant at Whistler Golf Club, and worked at the now "HILTON Whistler Resort" used to be the DELTA Whistler Rsort. Came back to Victoria and opened up my own FUSION restaurant named it "OPIUM" as Chef/Manager/Owner sold it, then managed another restaurant in victoria. and now changed careers kinda.

Working for Three Point Motors Mercedes-Benz in Victoria. still selling something./.... was FOOD now its CARS.... either way its still CUSTOMER SERVICE. and you dont look at the money for only TODAY you look at LONG TERM INCOME just like returning customers at a resstaurant

next, i'm going to get my CPA (just to have some more letters behind my name), my masters in US tax (i get to live in san fran for 6 months whilst i do this), then something else to take up my free time like a CFA - but i'll reassess after each designation/degree
Sweet!

Now when you say biggest of the Big 4 is that the biggest in Vancouver or the World?

I graduated from UBC Commerce this past May. I spent this past summer at the University of Saskatchewan doing a Masters in Accounting Program paid for by the accounting firm that i work for. I will hopefully complete the Masters program next summer when i return there and hopefully write my CA in September '09 (and pass god willing).

Hopefully, i'll be able to get involved with the tax side of things like 4444, but for now I am in auditing! =)

I work as a project cooridinator for a construction company. I basically micro manage employees and order materials or get them whatever they need to do the jobs. I also do quantative estimating and help with accounts payable/recievables when in the office.

I have a degree in Criminology and have taken some construction management and estimating classes at BCIT but never finished any programs there. I have about 16 years of experience in the construction industry but have only been doing it fulltime the last 7 or 8 years.

working as a pharmacist right now

hard to explain what I really do since things that happens behind the counter is a bit of a mystery for the majority of people

the job is pretty good... no work to take home, paid for my time by the hour, not affected too much by the economy and also rewarding when you can help some people out as well

the cons would be that you stand alot, there's alot of people that really don't get what happens in the pharmacy and aren't sure why you have to "wait" for prescriptions when all the little bottles are just on the shelf already... but there are always the bad customers with any job where you deal with the public

Schooling was required, went to UBC and did a bachelor's in pharmaceutical science, then did some licensing exams
