With new years now here, here come the fatties

So,

Who is not looking forward to going to the gym the next 2 weeks?

Always, without fail, the gym will be filled with people trying to fulfill their new years "resolutions", hogging up equipment and space.

Anyone share the same sentiments as me ?

SizzleChest 01-01-2009 09:46 PM

complaining about too many people in the gym after new years is like complaining about too many drivers on the road during rush hour. ya it's inconvenient, but they have just as much right to be there as you or i do.

RRxtar 01-01-2009 10:28 PM

its alright tho. they usually just stick to the eliptical and bikes and the 5-20lb weights. :D

quite the opposite, i've found, they sit on all the machines, doing everything wrong. i don't attempt to claim to be an expert, far from it, i do what i do, and i do it right... but i hate working out in gyms with other ppl so much that i've built myself a gym in my garage.

no one to bother me, and its cold as hell (i love to work out in the cold, get far too hot in the gym)

i certainly don't admire those needing to continue their regular routines for the next 2 months or so in a gym....

I'm one of those. I havn't hit the gym in 3 omnths due to injury. Time to drop 40 pounds before vietnam!

lol so you can put it all back! when you get there:)

hal0g0dv2 01-02-2009 11:04 AM

saw a bunch of fat fucks at the gym today

RayBot 01-02-2009 01:33 PM

The bottom line is that they will pretty much only be there for the next two weeks.

Most statistics will tell you that people that use fitness and weight loss as a New Years Resolution give up within two weeks of the New Year....which coincidentally co-incides with the new stuff coming out on Fox and NBC :P

Statistics are right...once a couch potato always a couch potato.

Powerslide 01-02-2009 02:18 PM

seems like my gym never really swells up around new years so we're ok
took 3 months off too, gotta get back next week

sas 01-02-2009 02:47 PM

They normally really only occupy machines ( they love the lat tower and bench machines) and most treadmills have a 20 minute limit, so I do not mind.

How many do you see actually using the power rack or barbell? As long as I can squat, dead, etc.. I could not care less.

tough 01-02-2009 04:32 PM

yeah they only go on the cardio machines

Honyoung 01-02-2009 05:36 PM

i told myself that after winter break ill be back to the gym
i stopped so i could gain some weight last time i checked i was 140 hopefully more now

Elevorett 01-09-2009 01:08 PM

My gym here in Victoria gets nuts. (Oak Bay Rec).
Without fail, right after new years the month of January is brutal. My gym is a relatively small one, and the community is tight-nit. I know every regular (I go 5 times a week).

Now I know that the gym-hoppers have as much right as I do, but what I CANNOT stand is when a newbie shows up and treats the place and people with that "i'm better than you disrespect". I feel like this gym is a second home and you're trespassing!!

Ducdesmo 01-09-2009 01:40 PM

It bugs me...I cannot find a parking space and every machine/bench is hogged up. For the next month, I'm going to go at the odd hours just to avoid the rush.

or whats worse for me as a huge gym pet peeve is that they are just sitting on the equipment, talkiing on their cell phones or their other friends.

Richmond69er 01-10-2009 09:31 AM

i dont know... i think its kinda funny to see all the new people in the gym.
i use it as motivation.

Volvo-brickster 01-10-2009 10:53 AM

i havent gone once yet :(

cell phone usage in gyms really irritates me

antonito 01-11-2009 07:30 PM

Here's something that may make it a bit more easy to put up with:

these new years people bring in huge amounts of easy cash for the gyms. Without them, gyms would have to charge a lot more from the regulars.

Maybe it'll help....I still get pissed off though :P

DK33 01-13-2009 09:38 PM

Woo! new years crowd the swoll is overwhelming! I like to see the teamwork workout, one guy benches a really heavy weight while his buddy spots him and does his deadlifts at the same time. A very efficient workout right guys...

KJQL 01-14-2009 04:00 AM

i made it a new years resolution to work out too

haven't worked out even once yet, lol

chr1s 01-14-2009 10:54 AM

it's not my new year's resolution, but I started going to the gym at around the same time... so i guess I am one of them. :cries

Meowjin 01-14-2009 06:42 PM

ignore these tools. 2 years ago i had a new years resolution to drop 80 pounds and I did it.
