Thanks! SGT coils with camber plates up front. Stock rear arms.

Pics from the last week or two.

Same as before except CF side skirt extensions and Brembo brakes.

My car was at the Revscene summer meet for those that were there.

Yes..... I am very much aware of the 4x4 stance. It's killing me .....
2013 328i xdrive sport package

Test fitted my rims. I'm not going to go the coilover route, instead going to go with h&r super sport lowering springs and bilstein struts/shocks. Anyways, I'm new to bmw. Always drove an STi. However with a new born son, I figured I would go for a more family type car that I can still mod, corner well and have some fun in. Anyways here goes :)

Rims: VMR V710 f: 19/8.5 235/30/19 r: 19X9.5 265/30/19

Bumping an old thread but...Before looking at the pictures I thought I would explain the changes from last year. Over the winter I got a Flossman GTR hood, also decided tot ry my hand at bodywork and modified the fenders and rear bumper cover to have the M3 GTR style vents, also added a AGT(Varis rep) under diffuser :)

Enjoy...

Saw your build thread on m3 forums. You did such a good job on those fenders/bumpers. Car needs some wheels that are on par with the rest of the extremely high quality IMO though. OEM ZCP/CSL wheels maybe?

Thanks a lot! Proper wheels are definitely on the list. I do like the styling now. So either BBS LM, or also Work Brombacher/VS-XX are on the list. The fenders have been rolled and pulled that if I run CSL/ZCP wheels, I would need to run quite a large spacer even if I ran a meaty tire and had less camber. I hate spacers so. Decisions decisions!

whats up with the current wheels? not calling you out, just curious

westopher 06-22-2014 11:26 PM

Personally, I just think for the most part, replica wheels can cheapen the look of a high quality (and I watched the thread of the whole process of his body work and I do mean HIGH quality) builds. Throwing a set of cheap cast wheels on a cheaper car for some better looks is one thing I won't disagree with but when it comes to a car like an M3, or a porsche, or mercedes we are talking OEM wheels that are made by high quality manufacturers like BBS, Ronal, Speedline, etc. Throwing a set of varstoens or whatever is a step backwards, by putting a heavier, lower quality wheel. Just my opinion, and I hope it doesn't come across as insulting, because I really do love his car. The brombachers as he mentioned would be AH MAZE ING.

Tchleung 06-23-2014 07:52 AM

I was certainly happy with the wheels at the time of purchase, but now that I've had them a while. I definitely want to upgrade to some proper multi piece wheels. No offense taken at all!

Traverse 06-23-2014 02:38 PM

saw it at the car show, looks so sick. surprised I haven't seen it around town before.

Nice and wow really? I've had this car around Pen for about 5 years now haha. I'm mainly in Kelowna though commuting so if it's in town it's usually my other car so that makes sense. What do you have? Pic?

PS: I just put my order in for some Work Brombachers :)

mikey2781 06-23-2014 05:32 PM

Love those varrstoens. Sometimes BBS caps on fake LMs actually look better than having BMW emblems on aftermarket wheels. I know a lot of people are against it, but that is the design that BBS became famous for.

I for one hate OEM center caps on aftermarket wheels.

Never made sense to me to spend over 10% of the car's value on wheels, Varrstoens are the way to go.

knight604 06-23-2014 05:39 PM

Fuck reps is all I got to say :)

mikey2781 06-23-2014 06:25 PM

^Reason? Those stamps/engravings around the center really worth 4000 extra? Or the slightly lighter weight advantage that hardly anyone is going to use?

Mikey2781, their is a massive difference in the driving experience between quality forged wheels from bbs, oz, volk, vs cheap cast wheels. Hey if you buy wheels for style, that is fine, just realize you are losing some performance. At the same time, people buying pur rims for $12k is just plain retarded. Ronal, MHT, bbs, volk make the majority of the quality rims out there and are actually reasonably priced vs pur, adv1 etc

I drive an 08 335i. only had it 2 months so i haven't done anything to it yet.

mikey2781 06-23-2014 07:26 PM

Welp, I guess I am the ONLY person who doesn't notice a MASSIVE difference in the driving experience.

I've gone through 30 sets of wheels, 90% of them are the real deal because good replicas like Varrstoens did not have a good reputation yet back then.
I drove on TE37SL vs ES222 one after another for winter/summer and with the same tire sizes, I could not tell the difference at all.
I can't comment on ROTA's because they have nothing but bad rep.

I had a bunch of different Work wheels like bomarchers, vs-xx, gnosis series and etc and I could not tell the difference from them versus those shitty TSW wheels. Yeah I felt like a baus but in the end, I feel like a turd for spending 5k on wheels on my, back then worth 40k, 350z.

Good for you if you do! Go ahead and do take advantage of that 0.2 second in 0-100km/h and that 1.x second per lap.
But for me, I will no longer spend a shit load of money on wheels that will get me from point a to point b in the same way.

Like I said, I know for a fact that most of us do NOT track our cars.

Look at it this way:
2010 Audi A5 + $5k wheels
vs
2010 Audi S5

I hope you chose the S5.

Awesome! Time for some mods! Too easy to make power of those!

And guys, lets not clutter this thread with reps vs legit. There are enough of those threads everywhere already lol.

I'm selling the Vaarstoens(or keeping them as spares) and have Brombachers on the way.
