So I did my airbag recall today, BMW does 15 point visual inspection as standard. So BMW visual inspection came back as: - air bag warning light is on when vehicle came in - need to scan. Check fault, not relevant to this recall - oil level is at "min" at dipstick. Yellow warning light on at times. May relevant to thermo oil sensor fault - L/R shock absorbed leaking oil badly - engine leaking oil badly - a/c belt cracked lines - front suspension lower control arm rubber bushings broken. Steering wheel rocking feel when braking or accel Would you guys recommend fcp or rock auto for parts? I'm leaning towards rock for the cost effectiveness. Sent from my STV100-1 using Tapatalk |
FCPEuro will match prices. Find your cheapest American retailer and they'll match with same part no. You then get the best of both worlds. Unlimited warranty and cheapest pricing! |

BMW RS'ers roll in? Sent from my STV100-1 using Tapatalk |
it won't let me upload mine! anyways off topic question: Is the rear subframe on the older BMWS (01-06) a real issue or just blown out of proportion? the mechanics I have spoken to say that that happens primarily when you track it but other than that it should be fine. Not really sure what to think |
On m3s and m coupes it's absolutely a real issue. The amount of power is what sets them apart from the other vehicles. TSS has done a ton of friends cars. I recommend talking to them and getting their opinion on it, and then just having them do it. Peace of mind goes a long way and it's a hell of a lot easier to reinforce rather than fix once damaged. |
Sorry what is TSS? can you please give me their email! thank you |
I believe he is referring to The Speed Syndicate, an automobile shop located in Burnaby. I have used them multiple times and they are absolutely phenomenal. Here is their contact information: Email: info@thespeedsyndicate.com Phone: (604) 568-7795 |
I already posted in the Latest Pic of your whip thread, but I guess I can post here as well. I own a 2013 E92 M3 competition package: Here’s what it used to look like when I got it: http://i.imgur.com/4g2Sd9A.jpg Here's what it looks like now after all the mods: http://i.imgur.com/IXJFigv.jpg http://i.imgur.com/VjDKISH.jpg Mod List • Custom Headlights • Ind painted reflectors • BMW Carbon Fiber splitters • Blacked out grills • 18 inch ARC8 Matte Black wheels • Akrapovic Evolution Exhaust • BPM Stage II Tune with cold start delete |
What's cold start delete? Sent from my STV100-1 using Tapatalk |
BMW - post your ride! Welding reinforcement plates to the rear axel carrier panel for the subframe to bolt onto is starting to show even that fix too has weaknesses. Welded plated E46s are starting to show signs of cracking on the outside of the plate because the plate only moves the next weakest point outside of the plate. I am getting Vincebar (manufactured and precision laser cut in Sweden) installed next week which actually puts steel bar in between both rear bolt-on locations to the RACP which distributes the the energy throughout the length of the bar against the inside of the RACP. It's held on by custom extended subframe bolts. The front subframe mounts are also tackled from the topside of the RACP via extended bolts and custom enlarged carriers under the rear seating area for the energy to be distributed over a larger area when the twist of the drive shaft pulls the left side down. Just go over to M3Forums and you'll see plenty documented on Vincebar and a couple other oncoming fixes that deem subframe plates less than ideal as a fix, long term. |
based on my understanding Cold start helps warm up the Cats, it makes the engine run really rough and loud for the first minute or so when you first start it up, Since I replaced my stock Xpipe with an Akrapovic Xpipe with High flow cats I didn't really need the cold start function anymore. That and I would literally wake up the whole neighbourhood with my akra evo and cold start enabled. My neighbours told me that their house would start shaking lol. So I had it coded out (cold start delete) to prevent any noise complaints. |
Ohh, I thought cold start was to help warm up the engine. Yeah, being too loud for the neighbourhood is the only concern I have about getting a modified exhaust. The first time I cold started the car in my garage, my family members told me that the house started shaking LOL |
