sedan or not, i dont need 75hp more in a luxury cruiser i rather have ES350 > Hyundai sedan |
The Genesis coupe must be super fast. I mean the Tiburon was already faster than the Porsche 911 and Shelby Cobra anyways. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mcpFmu_Gfp8 |

I think he's just bringing it in for fun as a joke. That commercial was by far the most entertaining commercial i've seen. Lol :haha: |

I wonder if we'll get the R-spec.... |
|
damn thats pretty nice... when are they rolling out in vancouver?? |
you can already see them in person at many dealerships. Should be on the road any day if you guys go pay up. |
Interesting..this makes my 328i seem gay LOL |
Long read ahead if interested...... I test drove a base 2.0T this afternoon at North shore Hyundai. Pulling in with a G35 coupe the salesman was quite interested to throw me the keys for a back to back comparison. Initial impression was that they did a very nice copy of a 9/10th version of my car , right down to the same door handle pull action and window dip. Very similar seating position and pedal/wheel layout. Trunk has a smaller opening but again almost duplicate features and contours. Fit and finish were for sure up to par with current japanese standards (ie-honda, not the current crappy toyota scratchable plastics). Starting it up you get a real 4 cyl sense and very boomy sound off idle, super light clutch and slightly clunky shifter with a vague disconnect as you shift but revs really nice and I found myself holding 4000rpm often just to roll on the throttle as it pulls quite nice. I can feel the ECU doing a slight weird jerky dance as it feathers boost or timing as you run through the rev range in the higher gears. The boost through the first 3 gears comes on fast but with that strange floating rev between shifts that they do now, like the old Contour SVTs..took a couple of shifts to get used to it right away, Very nice heavy on centre weight added to the steering, but quick when you rotate the wheel during cornering. Compaired to my neutral weight feeling G35 the Genesis feels 1000 pounds lighter on its feet. When on the gas powering out of a tight corner I found the stability control very intrusive, almost like it shared software with my Infiniti..I was not able to feel if the base had any sort of LSD as described in the articles I have read, and the salesman was not sure.. he was also not too comfortable with me turning the Trac off as I ripped through some twists off taylor way. :) (at 50kph) Overall I have to give it a thumbs up for sure as an alternative to a used G37 /G37, and a for sure pick over any other current compact coupe in its price range (26Gs!!!) I asked him to call me when the 2.0T GT comes in as that is one I would like to see more, for some reason the V6 is just not appealing to me even and having driven the 2.0T I feel the added lump of the 6pot will take away from the nice light feel they have in the turbo. longest post ever. |
i saw some korean review thing on youtube.. and they descibed the shifter not feeling very smooth and pretty clunky... and also that floating rpm feeling with slow pedal response because the vehicle is drive by wire.. |
How much cheaper is this compared to the G35? |
the floaty RPM is a modern day emissions thing as the throttle is closed at a controlled speed. That should be a common thing these days where drive-by-wire are used. Give it some time and someone will make a "hax0r box" to connect between the pedal and the pedal angle sensor and cure that funny feeling. They have that stuff even on a HIACE so I don't see how the same company would want to miss the boat on this big mainstream market. |
what do u need to test drive cars? i got class 5, age? |
go to the dealer and act like an adult who is looking for a car. These are some PROTIP: appear in a car in the price range, or get driven there as though you don't have a car appear in clothes that look professional appear in a courtesy car / rental car also helps tell them you just crashed your ride LOL. Chat with them with some enthusiasm but avoid talking about performance and drifting amd you should be able to get in a car and test driving in no time. |
^ Another one you can add, bring either your dad or your mom. I know it sounds stupid but it works most of the time. hahaha :) |

on a serious note though, this sexy looking thing for 30k? Worth every cent in my books  |
i just hope build quality is as good as it looks... my rental car experience with a hyundai elantra was not memorable :( |

I'm blown away by this thread. I've never seen a thread about a new car that has received so much positive feedback as this one has... I'm looking forward to test driving one once a 2.0T gets in stock on the island. |
