How do the Lakers lose to the Grizz?

Apparently Kobe's individual stat of becoming the highest scoring player in Lakers franchise was a distraction for the team.

Pau Gasol Not Thrilled With Kobe Bryant's Shot Selection

Share After a few seasons filled with drama related to Kobe Bryant and tension with his teammates — namely, his feeling that they sucked — a more talented supporting cast including Pau Gasol and an improving Andrew Bynum, culminating in a championship last season, seemed to put to rest the whole "Kobe hates his teammates" meme.

Not so fast. Gasol didn't seem overly thrilled with Bryant, who passed Jerry West to become the Lakers' career leading scorer last night. Here's what Gasol told the OC Register:

Gasol has on several occasions offered passive-aggressive comments about not getting the ball enough after Lakers losses in the past. This time, the comments leaned a little harder toward aggressive, particularly when it came to Bryant.

Gasol was asked about Bryant’s new record and offered politically correct – and believably authentic – commentary (“I’m proud of him; I congratulate him”) before adding the kicker: “Now we can focus on winning games again.”

Big secret: by about every advanced statistical measure there is, Gasol is the Lakers' most efficient offensive player. Now, Bryant is blessed with some of the most loyal and sensitive fans of any superstar in NBA history, so to suggest that anyone other than No. 24 is the key to the Lakers' success is generally met with derision, but Gasol is onto something — the Lakers are much better with Gasol and, to a lesser extent, Andrew Bynum, getting the ball in the paint where both get very good shots.

Bryant and Ron Artest on the perimeter both have a tendency at times to turn into volume shooters. As the season goes on, finding a balance between the alpha dogs on the perimeter and the scoring machines down low is going to be a big key in whether or not the Lakers can win a second NBA title.

man i was like how the hell do we lose to the grizz as well

wuuhoo 02-05-2010 11:11 PM

lakers lose again -_________-

I know kobe is injured, but holy this LA team is not the team last year

I honestly dont know why you guys think LA will get to finals. If they play like this, they probably get eliminated in semis/ or if they are lucky, west finals

I mean we cant beat elite teams

They won today so don't worry :) They are now 39- 13 or 40-13 some shit like that so I am not worried at all

As anyone in sports say... "Champions will rise during the playoffs.."

I still want to see them get another Center though. I think we have too many guards

Brown/Farmar/Fisher/Vujacic.

The Machine sucks balls this year

liu13 02-08-2010 11:40 AM

lol sasha sucked since he came into the league

411ken 02-08-2010 12:27 PM

I liked Sasha when he first came into the league. I like how he played defense before but it's all changed now.

Unfortunately, his value is close to nothing but I would atleast try to get a Center for him from a team that needs a guard.

liu13 02-08-2010 12:30 PM

guards from the d league are better than sasha

hotjoint 02-08-2010 12:31 PM

^ THIS

G-spec 02-10-2010 07:06 PM

lol, Vujacic... he used to hit a few shots here and there.... YEARS AGO..... people try to defend him saying he plays tough D, he doesn't, he plays IN YOUR FACE D, but then lacks footspeed to keep up with the offensive player and resorts to fouling to stop the play... that ain't D in my books

this should crack up Sasha haters, or anyone for that matter... watch him get shoved and weasel away... in Sasha's defense though, he was a 100% right, Mbenga had no business fading away with a wide open lane, he should have cut right to the hoop and he would have had a dunk which makes the video even funnier.... even Odom is lookin at him, like STFU, lol

^ i agree.

If anyone need a memory check, remember he let ray allen pass him for an easy lapup during game 4 2008 finals

rickross888 02-10-2010 09:41 PM

^yea omfg i remember that haha i was yelling the fuck out of vujacic in front of the tv with my buddies hahaha

liu13 02-10-2010 09:43 PM

you would have been too tired to yell, because none of the Lakers played great d, and no one was stepping up to help Kobe

Pau pretty much left Sasha to hang dry after Ray went by him, let him have a clear lane
