man... if he just drove in for layups instead of going for jump shots, Miami wouldve won

G-spec 02-24-2011 09:20 PM

^ true, only a pure shooter should keep shooting if he's missing, someone like bosh needs to mix it up if he's not hitin jumpers. Matter a fact he wasn't even brought into Miami to be a jump shooter

I personally think the Nuggets are fine without Melo. They got lots of guys who can play well but they'll need someone to step up during clutch moments. Also can't wait to see Jeff Green in a celtics jersey.
Green jersey: GREEN 22.

I'm liking OKC right now

Guys on that list like Evans and Parker, I mean Parker is like 16th or something on the top 25 assist men, Evans isn't even on the top 25. And Calderon is averaging around 10 assists a game, that's up there with Nash, Paul, Rondo think about that for a second before you say you would choose a CJ Watson over Calderon.
Lot of guys you're listing just happen to play PG but very few are true PG's the way Calderon is, he's a world champion and like I already said, this season he's up there with the top 5 pg's far as assists go, and also don't forget his turnover ratio as well it's fucking great..

So basically looking at the stats this season as far as assists and turnovers are concerned which is a point guards only job pretty much, hell Calderon is even further up than my original top 10 estimation

totally agree, i love calderon. he plays within his game, doesnt take bad shots (in fact he doesnt shoot enough), and hes efficient. hes always been tops in the assist to turnover ratio; smart player.

Liu yea ok now you're starting to get it, i could have been more specific as well and said True PG in my original post, not just guys who man that position. take that second list of yours and weed out the combo guards and list the guys with true PG stats like assists and turnovers.

Your list yea the guys you list are better overall players than Calderon, but they ain't better PG's, stats this season show that, I mean you don't even have to look at the stats, watch Calderon run plays all night long and then watch someone like Monta Ellis bring the ball up the court with a thought other than ripping through the defense for a layup.
Matter a fact why is Ellis even on your list, I've seen more than a dozen Warriors games this season and Monta don't bring the ball up much, Curry runs point Monta is a shooting guard

Got me curious now what the actual top 10 PG list looks like according to the experts, gonna look into it when I get home

Yeah, but, as I said, the Mayo trade was nullified after it was revealed that it was submitted after the deadline.

wuuhoo 02-24-2011 10:46 PM

wait, isnt perkins like a HUGE part of Bostons D?

I know they needed more forwards, especially at SF, but really?

Davis
Garnett
Pierce
Allen
Rondo

My own personal list, all IMO.

John Wall
Tyreke Evans
Stephen Curry
Russel Westbrook
Jose Calderon
Rajon Rondo
Steve Nash
Derrick Rose
Chris Paul
Deron Williams

Maybe sneak Chauncey Billups in there, he is a great leader.

liu13 02-24-2011 11:21 PM

calderon gets abused, stats dont tell the whole story

he should be averaging more points cause he`s a great shooter

i use to always tune in when an upcoming young PG is playing the Raps

G-spec 02-24-2011 11:35 PM

Yea offcourse he's gonna get abused by younger more athletic PG's, has nothing to do with him being one of the purest PG's in the league. Speaking of the young ones, There is sooooo much talk and the term "new breed of point guard" has been abused by the experts over the last few years. They're talking offcourse super athletic slashing/finishing guards Rose, Westbrook, Ellis, etc...
I just can't get into that at all man, those aren't point guards to me, just shooting guards who bring the ball up.
I'm old school, Stockton is a PG to me, Nash is a PG, it's the reason why Chris Paul been my top guy along with Nash for years now
Your lists of players are great I like watching them all play except CJ Watson, lol sorry man but he looks like a high school player playing in the NBA, he'll be out the league very soon

Good list Sucka, I agree but I feel a big change is coming with Deron now that he's on the Nets, he's gonna turn into another scoring oriented PG he's got nobody on that roster worth his time, for now anyway till owner brings in someone good

calderon is a top 20 pg at best, good passer good shooter, but cant create off the dribble, cant defend

i forgot to add collison, lou will, jrue holiday, and jameer

411ken 02-25-2011 06:23 AM

I'll be fair (not a fan of calderon)... sure he's not "bad" but is he the PG you would want on your team to lead you into the future? I sure don't.. I see him more into a backup role to be honest.. then again, maybe it's me not being a fan just talking here ;) lol

The sickening part is the acting skills bosh pulled... I would love to see Barkley, etc talk about it...just for the fun of it hahah

Can't fault the refs tho for calling the offensiv foul...tough call from their view
