Haliburton blew his Achilles early on in the first quarter, but amazingly the Pacers go into halftime with a lead This makes for a really compelling game. Will be interesting to see if OKC can adjust |
Quote:
OKC is shooting better in the second half with their three point shots. SGA is doing his thing and attacking the basket. The Thunder defence is stepping up big j. The third quarter. Siakam, Spicy P, will have to carry the Pacers on his back in order for a chance to win this game. TJ McConnell is also stepping up his game. Scored last 12 points for the Pacers in the third quarter. Indiana needs to pass the ball more to look for the open shot. Mathurin and Poppin could play better by making open shots. Thunder defence is much Better in game 7 though. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
GG OKC, the last 10 minutes of the game is party time Literally nobody other than TJ is scoring for the Pacers |
The Official NBA thread Congrats to the OKC Thunder. The best team in the regular season. Winning their first NBA Championship! Their League MVP and Finals MVP Shai Gilegous-Alexander. A superstar Canadian player in SGA! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
This team did what Harden, KD, and Russell couldn't :lol |
The better team won. |
In the other league ... Canadian Shai Gilgeous-Alexander got a great July 1st ... and a bag of gold. $285M for 4 yrs !! That's $71.4M / yr ... wow! |
Quote:
The league MVP and Finals MVP got paid MVP money. Good for SGA. He got the biggest bag. LUL OKC has a chance to be a championship dynasty team for the next few years. -young team with no big egos in their star players. Their star players besides SGA, players like J Dub (Jaylen Williams), and Chet Holmgren are also in talks for contract extensions. |
CP3 is going back to the Clippers! Chris Paul is joining the Los Angeles Clippers, ESPN's Shams Charania reported Monday. Drafted fourth in the 2005 NBA draft, Paul begins his 21st season back in Los Angeles alongside veterans Kawhi Leonard, James Harden and recently acquired Bradley Beal. 40 year old Chris Paul played for the Clippers from 2011-2017. The future Hall of Famer played some of his best seasons during his time with the Clippers from 2011-17. Paul was named an all-star in five consecutive seasons and made all-defence first team six times Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
Man the Clippers are old as hell now. |

Clippers have a bench of uncles now haha. Bunch of old guys. Lakers in 5. :lawl: https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...f9b30bab07.jpg Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
More news from the Clippers: https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...2a1379cba1.jpg Background story about the owner trying to circumvent the league salary cap by paying Kawhi money through a shell company: The NBA has launched an investigation into the Los Angeles Clippers amid allegations that a $28 million endorsement deal tied to star player Kawhi Leonard was used to skirt salary cap rules. It stems from a March 2025 bankruptcy filing of Aspiration, a now-bankrupt sustainability company that received $50 million in funding from Clippers owner Steve Ballmer. According to a bombshell report from investigative journalist Pablo Torre, Leonard signed with Aspiration, but did little to no promotional work in return. League officials are probing whether the agreement amounted to a "no-show" deal designed to funnel money outside of his official contract. The league hired the New York-based law firm Wachtell, Lipton, Rosen & Katz to conduct the investigation. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
The real scandalous thing is that Kawhi not really even worth it. He was already on a $150M contract for 3 yrs ... plenty for his production and he's fragile, need load mgmt. He won the championship once and is still getting paid for it. |
Kawhi is totally not worth it, no personality, barely plays. What a stupid move by the Clippers. |
Kawhi is the very definition of load management haha. When Klaw is "healthy", he can help a team be a legitimate championship contender. Kawhi was the Finals MVP when the Spurs beat Lebron's Miami Heat. Then he won his second chip when he played for the Raptors in the 2018-2019 season. Kawhi's game winning shot against Philly in game 7 of the 2019 NBA playoffs is so memorable. His shot is arguably one of the most clutch shots in NBA playoff history. What a dagger! Clutch Klaw at his best. |
That's an eternity ago, he's not the same player whatsoever. |
looking at it, it's low key best case scenario for the clippers to have the contract voided. They get rid of him and save a bunch of money. It's a low price to pay in terms of the punishment for a big gain to get rid of him. |
Clippers can use the cap space from a void contract of Kawhi to sign better and younger players. This team has a core of uncles now. James Harden, Kawhi, and Chris Paul. Bradley Beal is a bit younger than those guys at age 32. Clippers are far from being a championship contender with or without Kawhi playing games. |
Seems like a voiding the contract would actually be a hookup for the Clippers. There must be more of a penalty than that. |
Quote:
Clippers may need to forfeit multiple first round picks as punishment from the league? Perhaps the league after a detailed investigation forces Kawhi to give back all the money that he got under the table from the owner? |
They better make them lose some picks to make it actually hurt. If they just void Kawhi's contract they basically get to walk away from the old greedy fucker and use the cap space to pickup some younger talent. As you said any financial penalties are like a fart in the wind for Ballmer, they need to lose actual picks. |
Big announcement from LeBron on October 7th. 9am PST/12noon EST. "The Second Decision". LBJ is announcing retirement after the end of the upcoming season? Farewell Tour for the "King"? LeBron James @KingJames · Follow The decision of all decisions. October 7th. 12pm EST. #TheSecondDecision What a coincidence. One of my friends, a huge Laker fan, told me that LeBron would play two more years so that his youngest son Bryce call play ball with him. Bryce plays for the Arizona Wildcats now. I don't think so haha. LeBron picked up the player option of his contract. The new Lakers ownership, after former owner Jeannie Buss sold the team to Mark Walter, did not give a contract extension to James. Is LBJ calling it a career heading into his 23rd season in the NBA? |
Just noticed that the Raptors were in town, played a preseason game here at Rogers Arena. Anyone go? Or, the market for NBA here pretty well died down? |
The Official NBA thread Quote:
Yup, I went to the game with a friend on Monday night thanks to another friend. One friend won a pair of tickets via a Virgin Radio 94.5 contest on Instagram. That friend could not make it to the game so he gave me a pair of tickets to the game. Sweet! Great seats! Upper bowl, centre court, Section 323, Row 13 Balcony area. The market for NBA games is still quite big in the Lower Mainland. This pre-season game between the Nuggets vs. Raptors was sold out. People were re-selling their tickets on Ticketmaster for the price of Canucks regular season tickets hahah. For example, the tickets that a buddy gave me would be about $119 per ticket. People were selling tickets in the upper bowl, centre court rows for $225 each. I saw plenty of parents bring their kids to watch this pre-season game. Quite a few young people, Gen Zs, were at the game. -certainly a more diverse group of fans at NBA games compared to a Canucks game. I saw fans from all ethnic groups. White, Asian (Philipino, Chinese, Indian)), etc. Some teenagers and adults were wearing Raptors and Nuggets jerseys at the game too. Fellow Canadians Jamal Murray and RJ Barrett thanked the fans before the game for their attendance. As RJ said to the fans "We are here to put on a good show for you. Let's get it!!" Highlights from the game: Jamal Murray and Jokic are superstar and NBA All Star players for a reason . They played most of the 1st half of the game. Jokic is a great shooter and passer. Murray as the point guard is also a good shooter with his mid range shot. -attacks the basket well with his moves and footwork. Jokic is the Serbian beast. Raptors are pretty weak at the center position. They have nobody with the size and speed to guard Jokic. The big dude just kept attacking the paint, playing his game in the post and getting free throws. The Raptors were in foul trouble early in the game. Scottie Barnes trying to guard Jokic is big mismatch in favour of Jokic. There is no way that Scottie B. can defend against Jokic. In addition, the Nuggets outrebounded the Raptors big time. Newest Raptors player Brandon Ingram is a good shooter. He creates space for his team with his size and shooting ability. The best play for the Raptors was a 3 on 1 fast break. RJ Barrett with the pass to Scottie Barnes for the dunk. Poor Jokic had no chance to defend a 3 on 1 fast break hahaha Gradey Dick? Limp Dick performance overall last night from Grady. 0 for 3 for his first three shot attempts. Grady needs to work on his defensive game. He needs to work on his footwork. He made one 3 pointer. -missed some open shots. The biggest cheers for the Raptors was in the fourth quarter. Grady attacked the basket from the Nuggets' baseline. Two defenders were guarding him. Grady makes the basket with a lay up after some hard contact from one of the Nuggets players. Unfortunately, one of the refs called Gradey for an offensive foul. :lawl: Former Raptors player Jonas Valancunias came off the bench in the second half as the Nuggets center. Jonas is a decent shooter in the mid range. Horrible free throw shooter though. Aaron Gordon did not play the game because of injury. He was on the court with one of the coaches before the team warm ups to practice his crossover dribbles. The second half of the game was quite close. Fans loved the very competitive game. Nuggets win 112-108. There were plenty of contest sponsors for this pre-season game. One guy won a $250 Subway gift card for guessing the correct basket on the scoreboard screen had the virtual basketball. Subway also gave $25 gift cards to all the fans sitting in the same row as that guy winning the $250 gift card. Reese's Peeses toques for the loudest cheering fans in the lower bowl of Rogers Arena. $500 gift card from Cerave (Dermatology skin products) for one fan with the smoothest dance moves. Tangerine Bank half court shot contest. The dude who got picked for this contest was wearing a Raptors jersey and hat. Some fans booed this fan because he made a half hearted shot attempt from half court. I mean, dude, at least try to push off the court with your legs to get lift on your shot. That fan won a consolation prize when he made an easy layup on a kids height basketball stand with the hoop at least 3 times the size of a NBA hoop haha. Overall, it was a competitive and fun game to watch. The Raptors house DJ is very good. Many fans were dancing to the DJ's music during game time outs. The Raptors mascot, The Raptor, has good dance moves too hahaa. Former NBA players Danny Green and Isaiah Thomas (Celtics player) were at the game. Whitecaps player Thomas Muller and two of his team mates were also at the game.
