 i think this rule is total BS, bunch of power hungry noob ass mods

why don't you guys just set a rule where you can bump only every 72 hours?(asides from people asking legit questions) im sure if another RS member post's a question on an item alot of other people would be interested as well, maybe the price is to high, maybe theres a place where you can get it cheaper.. maybe the person forgot to add some information and it would sure help if someone pointed that out rather then get 10 PM's on the same question.hell alot of the times people don't even check their PM's

* i woulden't be suprised if someone on here gets offended and power trips  i understand you guys are just doing ur job and shit but this rule is whack as hell

Your idea sucks. So if it's 72 hours, then non-OP posts to threads would be even more unfairly bumped. If people are selling something, why wouldn't they check PMs? If they get 10 PMs on the same subject, it would be in their best interest to update their thread with more info. Defaults are set to pop-up notifications of new PM's, and email notifications can be enabled as well. I know that common sense isn't common, but at some point, people need to take responsibility for themselves.

lol i didn't even notice this rule. sorry bout that guys.

I got points against me because I replied to someones question on my own thread. I was then told to read the rules. I did, and not once did I see a rule that specifically says "Only OP can post on the thread, questions MUST be asked thru pm".

Rather than spread out these unwritten rules that don't show up in the RULES threads in other threads, CLEARLY PUT THEM IN THE RULES SECTION!!!!! It's almost like dealing with Transport Canada here. Yikes.

Bumping
Only one bump per two calender day. Bumping more than once in two day will result in points. If you need to add info, please use the edit button instead of adding a new post to your thread. This is due to the excess taffic on the Electronics Forums.

Selling for Profit, Lowballing, Thread-jacking, Chatting and Flaming NOT TOLERATED
This is a Buy and Sell forum. A place to Buy and sell commodities of personal use. If any of the above rules are broken, you will get points and a subsequent ban if you break them more than once. We don't care if you saw the item for cheaper at the store or if you PMed the OP. DON'T POST IT!
For your convenience, I apologize that we made the assumption that people could figure this out and stop posting replies in their thread instead of PMs so that they do not bump their thread or create chatter in the thread.

I guess having a reasonable amount of intelligence is too much to ask for.

CRS - i suggest adding this rule to be clearly written in the Buy and Sell rules stickied at the top of the page.

That's the first place i checked the last time i pm'd you and that's why i was confused until i read this thread.

Put it in bold for dummies like me who have been around since 2001.

The main issue is that people don't read. Like I said before, we could put it in big flashing lights, with some guy yelling on a megaphone, and the violations would still happen. Points are good reminder. If folks, continually, fail to pay attention to that reminder, then they'll get banned.

CP.AR 09-27-2009 01:10 AM

I just saw this...as Mashimaro suggested above, can we have this as a sticky or integrated into the general Buy and Sell rules? I honestly haven't seen this rule before and must admit I have made several infractions prior

CRS 09-27-2009 07:35 AM

Re-read the rules...

Bump for the new year. Now that the holidays are over, this will be aggressively reinforced. Thanks for your attention.

never knew this rule to be in existence. presto's logic that people don't read stickies sort of fail.

either way some people will forget to read the sticky and post on other ppl's B/S thread, sure, but wouldn't putting it in a sticky actually reduce the number of ppl getting points since some ppl do actually read the stickies?

and if this rule wasn't made widely known to all members of the forum, perhaps each case should be individually evaluated based on the content instead of just randomly issuing major points to everyone who posts. my post was a question that other interested buyers would have asked, and if the OP did not answer my question he could have his inbox flooded with the same question from multiple interested buyers. my post was not to flame the seller, or bump his post. sure it makes the threads clean, but the B/S posts now are also sadly uninformative as there is no Q&A between seller and potential buyers.

instant question and answer is so much faster than reporting to a moderator and having the moderator then ask the seller to update his information.

just my 2 cents.
