bmw return policy.....

so here is my story....

my dads sister is in a jam =)(thats what she calls it lol they ve purchased 2009 m3 white bmw top edition with all the fancy stuff...all you bmw guys prob. know what im taking about.. however after about a month of NOT DRIVING (car is basically sitting in the garage) 500 km, they ve decided that its crap... too small, too loud, too fast lol not practical and not comf. (for 55+yo people) -- ive taken m3 for a ride and i must agree..its not worth 100,000$....

anyways we are just wondering if anyone is aware of the return/refund or exchange policy on bmw vehicles... i tried calling dealership and left a message this morning however i have not heard back from anyone yet...

tips and any replies would be appreciated.

other than that im in charge of selling the vehicle... if we can not return it...

There's a return policy for car ???
Sounds like they purchased out right.

ask them to sell cheap & get whatever they can back
20-25% off when new car drove off a dealership.

MERXUS 03-28-2009 05:39 PM

...that site is not working...

hal0g0dv2 03-28-2009 06:16 PM

ill take it off there hands

dustinb 03-28-2009 06:27 PM

I don't think any dealership has a return policy. Once you bought it, you can sell it back to them, but at a significant discount because it is technically a used car, and if someone wants to spend $100,000 on a M3, they're going to want one that is brand freaking new.

dton13 03-28-2009 06:36 PM

That's like asking for the return policy of a house.

You bought it, didn't really live in it, then decided to return it. Ain't gonna happen.

threezero 03-28-2009 06:38 PM

you kidding me the m3 is worth every penny :D

still you would figure someone with the cash to impulse buy a $100,000 car would know better than to expect a refund.

dealership will lowball you for sure if they do decide to take it back. mine as well sell it yourself.

Or to buy a 100,000 vehicle without test driving it.

I don't know if I think it's funny or am just shocked at how stupid people are.

HonestTea 03-28-2009 08:07 PM

Give me a PM if you're interested in selling it

But I'm not paying anywhere close to 100k.. LOL I'll take it if it's below Market Value :)

Your dad's sister is going to get RAPED on the car if they sell it back to the dealership OR sell it privately...It's quite hard to get huge loans now and the fact that not very many people are buying cars AT ALL...

It's going to be tough, getting raped selling it back to the dealership vs. taking a long time to sell it(if ever) lol

I think you'd be better off keeping it IMO

Kang19 03-28-2009 08:08 PM

-1 for me

SoulCrusher 03-28-2009 08:11 PM

^^^ lame attempt at humor.

-1 for you

dton13 03-28-2009 08:26 PM

No I thought it was pretty hilarious too at first, but then you realize that he's actually serious so I gave him a serious answer.

Something tells me the M3 is fine, they love it, but can't afford the payments, and want to save face by saying "OMG BMWM3 IS CRAP ! SELL SELL SELL" instead of saying "In these economic hardships, we can't make the payments."

SkinnyPupp 03-28-2009 09:12 PM

This is what happens when people worry more about how much "face" they'll get rather than actually thinking when they buy something

sexyaccord 03-28-2009 09:36 PM

don't think you can return for a full refund.
They do offer a full refund within 3 days of purchase though.

endless402 03-28-2009 11:31 PM

yeah there's supposedly a 3 day/ 300km refund policy

where exactly does it say that? the bill of sale?

honestly, you are not returning a $3000 LCD TV.. even that the guys at FS give you a 30 min interview before taking it back.

now, we are talking about a $100k vehicle and you expect them to take it back? good luck selling it for $75k with this kind of economy.
and this situation is screaming for the adverse selection/moral harzard in the lemons market. ;)

might be a new policy at BMW due to bad economy, not sure though.
I'm sure someone works for BMW on RS that can clarify.
Sales guy briefly mentioned it when i was picking up.
but yeah, they are not going to take the OP's M3 back for sure.
