Yeah the buildups were bad, but AEW always delivers. Trios match was probably the best match on the show (on a per minute basis?) and it had basically no build at all.

Quick WrestleMania thoughts

Day 1 was good. Almost everything was at least fine, some stuff good

Day 2 was bad. Walter match was great, Asuka match was good. Cody vs Roman was the most typical Roman match ever, and the ending made me LITERALLY LOL for like 5 minutes straight. Just too funny

More importantly, WWE has been sold to Endeavor, and is merging with UFC


All I can say is holy shit. Will be interesting to see how this effects the industry, and the product itself. I expect the Saudi deal to be over once they finish the agreed dates, as Endeavor wants nothing to do with them.

On the other hand, they do NOT like paying talent fairly, and they may be less likely to bid on free agents against AEW.

with that said, I hope they don't start charging people $50 for a PLE

Thoughts on the weekend...cuz I watched as much as I possibly could

ROH Supercard of Honor:

Fantastic card throughout the show. Vikingo vs Komander was nuts. Athena vs Yuka was good, freak accident in the botch fest shoot for the sky ladder match. Im shocked Joe and Claudio retained. Shibata is your new PURE champion. Might we be setting up a BD vs Shibata match with PURE rules?

Enjoyed the show thorughout. Found out later on that due to Ospreay's injury, the world was robbed of an Ospreay vs Takeshita match.

I watched two matches from Joey Janela's Spring Break... i dunno what to think of it... but we got Maki Itoh giving Cardona a boot. and pizza cutters...

the main event of this was the return of Kota Ibushi to pro wrestling, outside of a few questionable botches, i'd say Kota Ibushi is slowly coming back. Though i wouldn't count on him signing with any company full time for now.

Wrestlemania

Night one was better than night 2.
Cena vs Theory was meh.. didn't like the lowblow
Mens tag showcase was pretty good stuff.
The trios women match was alright, see everyone hit their spots and call it a night
Dom vs Rey was hilarious, loved the entrances
Charlotte vs Rhea had a fantastic match.
Tag Team Championship match, feel good moment. loved it. Sami pinning Jey had to be the ending

Night 2 imo was shit
Omos vs Lesnar... i was sports entertained lol
Women's tag match i skipped cuz meh
Asuka vs Bianca, good match. I wanted Asuka to win, why bring in the clown gimmick to lose.
Edge vs Balor was... unneccessary, should be a proper match rather than a cluster fuck
Roman vs Cody.... felt like an entire year of Cody's rise is wasted here. Only worst booking would be Cody losing clean which was never in the books.

Cody should have won, best moment for WWE to validate their new top babyface, instead Roman's 1000day reign is more important. Oh well.

Best Wrestlemania card in a long long time. WWE definitely made this feel like an important one haha.

Pretty much agree with everything you said. Asuka should get a big win, but not after a shitty build like this match had. She should be DESTROYING the division for like a YEAR. Instead she was having competitive matches with CARMELLA of all people, and then spitting on Bianca. It was so lame, so I don't mind a status quo finish. Bianca's entrance was 10 million stars.

who else could Asuka possibly destroy outside of Damage control and becky when the rest of the womens division is CLEARLY below her at this point.

NJPW Sakura Genesis from Saturday was a fantastic wrestling show top to bottom.

The Stardom Yokohama Arena show with Mayu vs Mercedes should be a good one...

I watched everything but the last 2 matches on Sakura, as had to leave. You're right that Mercedes kept up, and I was pretty impressed by that. She was still slower of course - AZM is probably legit the fastest wrestler in Japan - but I expected a lot worse!

So Mercedes has the star power, and has proven to be a top worker too. Probably the best American woman wrestler in the world right now.

As for Tam vs Giulia, I don't know man. Did you see the headbutt at the press conference? That was done hard way. Then Giulia tried to open it up again with more headbutts at the next show, and clawing at it. Tam has this giant hematoma on her head now, and they are going to have to be careful with it if she's going to be able to wrestle on the 23rd.

I don't know what their obsession with shoot headbutts is all about, but it makes it really hard to enjoy.

are stardom ppvs usually 4000yen+?

Yup that's the normal price. This one will have English commentary with Chris Charlton and Sonny (a Stardom employee who doesn't have much experience, but knows more about the storylines than anyone) and a wrestler, probably Momo Kohgo

It will be on Stardom World a few days later (probably Thursday) chopped up into individual videos for each match. That is 900 yen for the month.

Stardom PPVs are always top to bottom GREAT and deliver when the card looks good. Absolutely worth the price every time I've bought it. Weaker cards, I just wait to watch on World.

Like I said! Stardom delivers. They just have the best, most basic booking, and let their star power and personalities shine through, while having great hard hitting wrestling matches. Best promotion out there right now!

I will say, doing the YES chant in 2023, not at a WWE show, or even an AEW show, but at a NJPW show is something I will remember for a long time haha.
