End of an era

Tim Budong 01-18-2024 07:25 PM

This is like Messi leaving barca, no matter where Okada ends up, u damn well know NJPW is where he belongs at the end.

I think NJPW has done an absolutely fine job setting up their future, Shota and Tsuji losing to Ospreay in their 5 star matches proves they can hang with the best of the best. Okada tho, hasn't exactly put those kids over in anyway haha.

SkinnyPupp 01-18-2024 07:28 PM

I have a feeling he'll sign with AEW and remain based in Japan, and do occasional dates for NJPW, most often with AEW talent

Tim Budong 01-18-2024 07:52 PM

AEW's main event scene kinda looks like NJPW 2019-2020 lol

kinda ridiculous.

Im curious what happens in 2024 if the Coin drop happens at Wrestlemania though.

In ways, i think it is better for NJPW and AEW if Okada was workin with the E. There's a good foundation on both sides. Adding Okada to taht AEW roster doesn't really do much for me. not to disrespect the work, but sounds like a watered down version of what could have been if ie. Kenny stayed or the pandemic didn't happen.. or if Ibushi got hurt.. if that makes sense.

but wow.. 2024 njpw is lookin interesting. Gonna see if Naito holds that title till April... Shacho Tanahashi gonna let TK take the IWGP World HW title off Naito? lmao.

Tim Budong 01-20-2024 03:09 AM

watched the New Beginning in Nagoya live...
Okada holding back tears saying goodbye to this crowd,
Tama Tonga saying goodbye.

This tour is going to be very emotional. Marking the end of Ospreay and Okada as a full time NJPW guy.

Okada gets Tanahashi on basically the 11th anniversary of Okada's first title reign on Feb11. Ospreay's final NJPW date is also Feb11... and this is where Zack vs BD 2 will happen.

Don't know who Okada faces for the final two days of the tour, but I hope it is one that has a lot more meaning.

SkinnyPupp 01-20-2024 03:32 AM

After January 31, Okada can sign with someone, so he'll know just how final those final matches will be. There's a chance he'll be back in June for Forbidden Door III. Or even if he goes to WWE I'm sure they'd let him go back for WK and maybe even other shows.

He'll be around, if he wants

Tim Budong 01-20-2024 05:30 PM

The aura around a forbidden door ppv is gone if Okada goes to AEW.

I don't know how u feel, but im absolutely confident that Shota, Tsuji and Uemera are totally ready.

Tama Tonga is gone now as well, gotta be happy for that guy, he improved so much after Bullet Club.

SkinnyPupp 01-20-2024 05:37 PM

I think Tsuji is ready for sure. Absolutely 100% and I think he should have beat Sanada in their match

Also if I'm NJPW I am finding out when Takeshita's AEW contract is up and try to get him. He can be a top guy for them if he wants

Tim Budong 01-20-2024 06:20 PM

Takeshita has had a taste of that US money. highly doubt it.
I did enjoy that small part of FD last year between Takeshita and Ishii hah.

I do believe part of the reason Okada's leaving is to secure the bag and that US money is very very tempting.

Tony Khan tho.. lmao
Minoru Suzuki vs Adam Copeland is on dynamite next week

SkinnyPupp 01-20-2024 06:21 PM

Takeshita will be making money, but he's not at Okada/Ospreay level. NJPW should be able to compete with AEW there, if they believe he can be their top guy. They might prefer home grown of course.

I just think he has way more potential than AEW is allowing him to show

Here's hoping that TK will do some goodwill for NJPW and send more of their talent over for bigger events in exchange for potentially signing Okada. Even though AEW owes NJPW nothing over this.

Takeshita is my pick to do a G1 this year. I dont know where NJPW see someone like Garcia, but he could be a fun one in the BSOJ as well.

and they really need to end this Don Callis Jericho thing... its going no where

They seem to have a pretty good relationship that is beneficial to both sides. Fact is Okada and Giulia would leave no matter who signs them. The yen is just too cheap right now - there is going to be risk of more people wanting to leave as well. Even TNA will be able to compete if they want. Nobody will be like losing Okada though of course.

Tim Budong 01-22-2024 08:08 PM

your top guys in top form. great promo. but come on man.. CM Punk seperating business from personal? lmao

SkinnyPupp 01-22-2024 08:22 PM

I wasn't impressed by that promo.. Punk's AEW promos before Brawl Out were fire (and of course his first WWE run even better). This was pretty vanilla by that standard

And I find Cody's WWE cadence tedious and boring to listen to

It's also funny how they have to ignore the Romanverse and pretend Seth's belt is the top belt in the company

Manic! 01-26-2024 10:21 AM

How fckd is Vinnie Mack and the WWE?

Vince McMahon: WWE boss accused of sex trafficking

Quote:

An ex-employee of World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) has accused the company's boss, Vince McMahon, of sexually trafficking her to entice wrestling talent.

Janel Grant says she was also sexually assaulted at WWE, in a case filed at a Connecticut district court on Thursday.

Mr McMahon's spokesperson said the case was "replete with lies" and his client would "vigorously defend himself".

In 2022, he stepped back as WWE's chair and CEO amid sexual misconduct claims.

He was reinstated as chair of WWE a year later, after the company had concluded an investigation into the allegations.
One of the texts.

Manic! 01-26-2024 12:45 PM

what an idiot.

SkinnyPupp 01-26-2024 02:34 PM

Vince is fucked. Johnny Ace is fucked. Brock's career likely over. The question is who else in the company is fucked for helping cover it up? Including the sham investigation they did when the allegations first came out. She says they didn't even interview her during that.

Creative has been improving under HHH, but if he has to be let go, things could be very different.

Tim Budong 01-26-2024 05:37 PM

Vince is out
Brock wasnt named directly so will see

Slim Jim pulled their sponsorship, others likely to follow
Vince McMahon is WWE no matter what so i assume brands want to stay clear for a bit even if its under new management.

SkinnyPupp 01-26-2024 06:33 PM

Vince gone, Endeavor wants to clean house so all his guys will be gone too. This should include HHH, which of course the most important people are the victims, but for us, this will have a drastic effect on the show itself.

Interesting timing with The Rock coming back... Or maybe Heyman gets full control

Tim Budong 02-08-2024 10:29 PM

HEEL ROCKY?! i'm all for it

SkinnyPupp 02-08-2024 10:36 PM

What a mess the Cody storyline has been LOL

But yeah, it's fun to watch. Rock was forced to turn heel, but he is taking the opportunity and running with it

Tim Budong 02-12-2024 08:19 PM

NJPW New Beginning in Osaka is prob one of the best non WK shows NJPW has booked in a long time.

that BD vs ZSJ match was very very good
The war games match main event imo was too long, and ABSOLUTELY UNSAFE

I for one welcome Hollywood Rock :lawl:

A couple of OG clips during the attitude era

Tim Budong 02-14-2024 07:12 PM

AEW lowkey throws together a very legitimate card for revolution during this stale as fuck time

https://i.redd.it/drfour7e5oic1.jpeg

SkinnyPupp 02-14-2024 08:54 PM

I bought it last week after the Young Bucks attacked Sting, but when they announced Ospreay vs Takeshita I wanted to buy it again! LUL

Looks like a potential all timer PPV

And then they have Mercedes and Okada coming in PogChamp
