france tries to auction Chinese artifacts again Have you guys saw the news of some french company trying to auction the Imeprial Qing dynasty stamp that they robbed from China during the invasion? What shameless people...how would the french feel if the Chinese goes into france and rob the french museum and then auctions the crown of king Louis? I guess thats why the Chinese people don't feel guilty making counterfeit LVs and crap...since what the french people have done to China is far worse..at least the Chinese didn't invade french and go robbing the LV factory. For those who didn't know what disgraceful the pirates from the west are, see here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Boxer_Protocol http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Boxer_Rebellion foreigners in Beijing http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Fo..._Rebellion.jpg news of frenchman selling Chinese artifacts from a while back. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2009/0..._n_169153.html |
You're a fucking moron. |

Wait its a french guy, not the country. Hell if the artifact belongs to him, no matter how he got it, isn't he entitled to sell it? I'm just saying if I had some artifact that was worth money, I would sell it. |
we lost in a war, they entitled the possession. It's a shame other country is selling our goods, but its history, the winner deserves every bits and pieces. It's fair game, I'm just hoping they dont whine and cry when things go the other way. |

But u see it wasn't just one french guy, the entire france amry invaded China back then..and stormed and looted the Imperial Palace. Hence whatever Chinese artifacts they have are in fact stolen...and selling stolen goods are technically ilegal. Same as someone robs an ipod and tries selling it on craiglist. Ilegal. |

As much I love China/Taiwan, I am pretty sure we have learned our lesson and reinforce in renovated heritage buildings. Move on man, it makes us look like "illman of asia" if we kept complaining. |

Nah I'm not whining. I am just trying to show how ridiculous it is when the french got so angry that Chinese people are making fake LVs, when in fact the wrong they done to China and still doing are much worse. Keep in mind though, copy right law is a western concept, more ever, it is more of a civil matter rather than moral matter..for alot of people, taking other people's concept is learning, not stealing. Think about the follow scenario. a white guy goes to Japan and learn how to make sushi..he then returns to canada and starts a Japanese resturant and sells sushi. Can Japan sue him for stealing Japanese culture and profiting at a loss of authentic Japanese chef? No becuase it isn't protected. So on a simliar regard, who decides what to be protected and what not to be protected? it's okay for a westerner to sell "Japanese" sushi and damaging the sales of authentic Japanese returants because its not copyright protected, but it is not okay for a Chinese guy to sell "fake LV" and damaging french bag makers... both acts are of the same nature, but one is protected and another is not. Therefore the situation is more of a civil matter than a moral one. Why should the french expect Chinese to follow copy right laws, when in fact what they are doing are exactly the same in the eyes of Chinese but cannot be punished? Counterfeiting will still continue as long as the west still hasn't paid back its debt. |

If it was just that simple, then let's just undo 2000 years worth of history. I'm sure there are more atrocities out there dating further back that are far more deserving to be undone. |

For example, if you unknowingly purchased a car that had fake VINs and was in fact stolen or had a lien, it would be repossessed from you and returned to its rightful owner - you would not be compensated by anyone as ignorance is not legally admissible. It is for this same reason that Art collections are currently being returned to Jewish families from Nazi seizures during WW2, as well as Russian art and treasures being returned to Russia which were plundered from Imperialist palaces in St Petersburg by advancing Nazis. Legally then, the artifacts were stolen during War, which by today's standards would be War Crimes. How it plays out in the courts will be a fight between lawyers. |
^^^ Then theoritcally speaking we should all pack our bags and go back home to europe, asia, etc, and give back Canada to the natives. This is why DDgauge's POV is flawed. |

I never said history can be undone...I am simply pointing out the irony in it. If reading is such a difficult task for you, I'm put it in a simpler way. It is ironic that its okay for the french to steal and rob from China before, but not okay for Chinese to steal and rob from french now. Keep in mind what happens today will be history tomorrow..by your standard, its okay to commit crime, since it will all be history after a hundred years, so let it be? While my POV is by no means perfect, your POV is even more flawed. |

No, it is you who needs to learn to read. 1. You original post by no means was limiting itself to pointing out the irony of the situation. You were calling out audacity of the situation. 2. As per your the Faux-LV example, who stands to profit from counterfeit Louis Vuittons? Definitely not France. 3. You're a retard, plain and simple. That is why your POV's and ideals will never come to fruition. |
in other news.... the british museum still holds precious egyptian artifacts looted from the pyramids. |
Shit happens live with it. People worry too much about what happened in the past these days and it drives me crazy!! |
this just in.... we are still living on the native's lands |
How dare you f**king sell your house and land when your ancestors robbed it from the Natives.. Get a life, the french have every right to auction it off. If I had enough money I'd buy it and burn the stamp just to spite you. |
pwned |
History is written by the Victors. DDauge, your view is so very flawed. |

That's what justifies counterfeiting LV and other name brands? Ha! What a poor excuse. It's more like the average Chinese can't afford LV or Gucci. Or that Chinese can't come up with anything better. Oh and the French and anyone else who buys authentic designer clothes get mad because some cheap Chinese fuck wearing some knockoff is just making it look cheap. |
