This^^

I've driven multiple 997 Carreras (Which to me are great all around cars with little faults) and none of them made me laugh and leave a stupid grin on my face behind the wheel like the one 6MT AMV8 I drove. That noise tho...:ahwow:

boostfever 11-06-2013 08:11 PM

have driven both, I'd take 997s over the Vantages. it's just a better all around car for everyday use and tracking. sure Aston is prettier, more luxury, and more rare but Porsches are more durable and reliable and more user friendly.
one thing that always got me driving manual Vantages are hill starts, can't use the damn e brake when launching and I hated to give it too much gas afraid to burn the clutch. :okay:

Z3guy 11-06-2013 09:48 PM

Do not buy sport shift 6 or 7sp.......completely sucks ball. I thought my e60 m5 was jerky until I drove ss. 6sp manual is the only way to enjoy an aston.....

You should hear one with 200cell cats and quicksilver exhaust.....sounds like an old school fox chassis mustang!!:)

I agree with you 997s are far superior daily drivers, they just aren't special anymore, especially in van....

absolutely agree. But most of us owners don't buy these cars to be at the forefront of technology or being the fastest around the track. Most of us could care less. If that was the case I would have kept my GTR instead of going back to a dated 10 year old design and technology. It's a matter of what speaks to you. I test drove the MP4 and it's a fantastic technological achievement and extremely fast, the design didn't speak to me.

At the end of the day, to each their own. Everyone has a different set of needs, requirements, and desires. Much like our views on women. That's why there are so many of them in the world (selections of cars I mean......and women.) Sometimes it's not about how fast or advanced it is. Sometimes it's about how it makes you feel. To me I prefer a more old school analog feel to my cars, while having some modern creature comforts (A/C, Stereo, GPS, etc.) so the Superleggera fits me perfectly.

But back to what you are saying about technology and "which car is faster around the track", I completely agree with you. But I'll never be able to use it to the car's full capabilities as I'm not a professional driver. So it's irrelevant to my personal needs. :)

Well said!

Special is how you feel behind the wheel, not how many times you see it though. Just saying I can see 500 911 turbos/carreras/s/4s/gts/gt3s a day it seems at times, but I don't think it makes any of them any less amazing of a car.
On an unrelated note nice to hear someone enjoying a MT aston! I'm sure you are a minority in that cars sales group.

What's the difference between the 2010+ Vantages and pre-2010's? Did the automatic transmission come out in 2010? The reason I'm asking is I noticed in the states you can pick up a 2007 for as low as $55k but there's a pretty decent price increase around the 2010+ models.

I've also noticed the price on 2008-2010 DB9's has dropped to around $80k as well. That V12 noise is so sexy

2009 Aston Martin DB9 Volante - Reduced!

That car is $82k with 38km on it... I think it'd rather have a DB9 than an Vantage

JoshuaWong 11-07-2013 12:51 PM

I'd take Vantage over DB9 anyday, DB9 feels too old and long ... I know a lot of friend who would argue with me over this haha. I'd take Porsche over Aston though, never though I'd say this since I was never a fan of Porsche for as long as I liked cars. Maybe I am getting old, and some of these taste come with age? :okay:

kwy 11-07-2013 03:24 PM

An Aston is what I'm working up towards..long ways to go. Always loved British cars, they seem to have an intangible cool factor. I can appreciate the engineering that goes into a Porsche, but I will likely never own one. If I had 80k to blow on a car, it would be an Aston, hands down, no contest.

Vale46Rossi 11-07-2013 04:18 PM

The only issue I have with the aston is the automatic gear box, car HAS to be a 6sp or it drives like shit.

Also the car doesn't feel like it has 400hp... but then again could be the gearbox being crap as well.... don't get me wrong the car is beautiful and I love the look but performance wise it really bugged me to death.

I can't wait till the AMG engines go in to the AM's.... Then you will get that powerrrrrr :)

boostfever 11-07-2013 05:08 PM

couldn't take a pic when driving but saw a weird teal green LP700 Roadster on Burrard. looked good though.

There is a reason db9s have depreciated so much.....they drive like a boat, very little sport.......

In general Astons don't hold their value which makes it prefect to buy one a few years old because you'll probably pick one up for half. My brother in law got a Maserati GC from the states, I believe it's a 2008 and he paid around $70,000 everything in. Some really good deals to be had for exotics state side if you have the cash.

Had the chance to attend the Audi Driving Experience on November 6, at the Pitt Meadows YPK Integrated Training Centre.

Took some pictures of some good looking Audis and the event's driving courses.

I will post a video later of my gopro shots (after I edit and compile them into 1 video).

Here is the gist of the event (lucky it wasn't raining):
3 courses. 3 hours. 3 cars: TTS, S5, A6 TDI. Instructors were 4 race car drivers (Scott Goodyear, Antoine Bessette, Daniel Morad, Jeff Boyce).

Drag Race. Closed Hair Pin Turns Course. Oval Course.

1 Hot Lap in the RS5 (as a passenger). Very Fun.

Here are the pics:

Spoiler!

Harvey Specter 11-07-2013 11:09 PM

Looks like a great event and the A6 looks damn nice and very clean with the black grilles and those wheels. I love the wheels on the RS5 cab as wheel, are those wheels only a option on the cab?

I believe it's standard equipment, 19'' wheels.

2 types of 20'' 5 rotor wheels are optional.
