I've heard so many good things about ON 100% Whey Protein, and I want to try it. However, I'm taking a weight-gaining shake right now, and if I switch to ON, I'm not sure ON will be able to help me gain weight. What do you guys think?

lol there 2 totally diff things lol, but if u were smart you could grind up cup of oats and 3 scoops and peanut butter or coconut milk and some nuts and be close to 1000 calories right there

jeffh 12-06-2009 09:41 PM

^ this
my breakfast shake is 800 calories, and its just my cheap whey mixed with oatmeal and fruits with milk. and for $26 for a tub that lasts at least a month, oatmeal is CHEAP, peanut butter is cheap (good fat too) and frozen fruit isnt too bad
dunno how companies can get away with charging so much for weight gainers

I say there is nothing wrong with getting weight-gainers. Most people like me are always on the run. They can put the amount they need in a shaker cup and just mix it with water whenever they need it. No mess, no hassle.

To nns: If you are a skinny guy, you do need a weight gainer to give you something to build upon. Once you have reach your ideal weight, switch to protein. ON protein will not help you gain weight, each serving has only 120 calories.

hal0g0dv2 12-07-2009 06:51 AM

^^^ u don't need a weight gainer for help man
just eat

DC5-S 12-07-2009 08:36 AM

yeah you def dont need weight gainer.. make 2 pb sandwitches with 1 tbsp pb on each bread.. that totals 800 cals right there

SkinnyPupp 12-07-2009 10:01 AM

Good to see some people cluing in that gorging yourself on corn starch isn't exactly the best way to "gain weight"

RRxtar 12-07-2009 11:57 AM

if you want go get all your calories from simple carbs like sugars and starch, go for a weight gainer. if you want to get your calories from complex carbs, protein, and good fats, make a proper shake or eat a meal.

dont have time to cook a meal on your afternoon break at work? prepare this in the morning and bring it to work: put a scoop of protein in a shaker cup and bring one of those 325ml bottles of milk to go and throw the milk in the cup when you want it. and have a PB+J on multigrain bread. good for 700cal and at least 50g of protein. and you can get the milk to go in like 8 flavors too

If you're looking for weightgainers, ON makes serious mass as well, which is their version of a weight gainer. So you'll be fine...

Side note about ON and why they are so popular.

As far as ON goes, I've tried about 30 differents brands of whey protein, and by far the best tasting is Optimum Nutrition 100% whey. I'm a picky motherfucker when it comes to protein shakes. I don't want to suck down chalk if I don't have to. Been drinking their double chocolate for about 6 years now (and yes I do get sick of it...)

KO7 12-17-2009 11:41 AM

Just had ON Double Chocolate mixed with milk for the first time, I like it =). I prefer it over Mint Chocolate. Wanted to get Vanilla Chai, but that looks like it's only available online?

XxFcukxX 12-17-2009 11:45 AM

doubble chocolate is starting to get gross for me , anyone suggest anything else ? i was thinking vanilla

BlackV62K2 12-17-2009 12:10 PM

Vanilla Chai is very good.

Beilei 12-17-2009 06:40 PM

double chocolate mixed with a banana and two ice cubes is hella good!! It tastes 95% like Starbucks banana chocolate Vivano.
No regrets of buying ON, doesn't give you a bad stomach and mixes really really well.

no
gnc and popeyes has it , well least they did back in the day, but i don't buy from those guys anymore

Wilso09 12-18-2009 09:25 AM

I got my Vanilla Chai from Popeye's a lil' while back. It's AWSOME, however, I'm starting to get stick of the taste. It's not like a "normal" flavor that you can have everyday and not really get tired of it. (for me at least).

Anyone tried the ON 2:1:1 recovery in chocolate? I LOVE IT! Crave it after every workout! Anyone know if the ON double chocolate flavor protein tastes the same?

TreeHugger 01-04-2010 07:34 PM

I have double rich chocolate. I mix it with a tsp of natural peanut butter and water, and eat it with my banana ^^

Has anybody tried AllMax's Isoflex?

Any comments? http://blog.fightpassport.com.s43331.../isoflex-2.jpg

Wilso09 01-05-2010 04:00 PM

I used the strawberry flavor before. GREAT taste, has lil' strawberry bits in it too, kinda like the Special K Berry cereal. Good quality whey, cheaper than ON aswell.

Mugen EvOlutioN 01-05-2010 04:22 PM

i prefer the chocolate, strawberry tasted really artificial to me

DavidNguyen 01-05-2010 08:39 PM

why do so many people like this ON stuff?

SkinnyPupp 01-05-2010 10:00 PM

Tastes good, mixes great, reasonably priced, good quality protein, good ingredient profile. What's there not to like?

chipmunk604 01-05-2010 10:40 PM

what skinnypupp said.

easy for me to down it after a workout without the puking feeling. its also easy on my stomach and i dont feel bloated/gassy.

RCubed 01-05-2010 10:56 PM

Chai Latte is awesome

i've tried this stuff. currently on my second 5 pounder of chocolate..
i prefer it over the ON Chocolate. i find it doesnt have a weird after taste like ON does. my buddy says its a very good protein for your buck.

MaximalLazy 01-07-2010 12:40 PM

Yeah, I am on my first 2lb of chocolate. And the taste is amazing, it actually tastes great.

I've always wanted to try ON's products, but I don't find the need to change =\
