Just read this online from the Sun I believe regarding the ref and Burrows from last nights game.
"Referee Brad Meier, defending his reputation as one of the NHL's worst referees, also missed what appeared a fairly obvious high-stick to Alex Burrows, depriving the Canucks of a late power play.
"In Edmonton, he called me for diving," Burrows said. "[Tonight] he got me for hooking when I thought I got his stick. Sometimes you just have to tell them they're cute and refereed a good game and next game maybe he'll give you one."
I Laughed

I don't even know how to play sportsaction...
Is it really that simple of choose a winning team?

Is it really that simple of choose a winning team? | There's a bunch of ways to play.
Oddset. BCLC will give you odds for who they think will win and or tie.
You can play 2 games or up to 6 games. Bet $2 to $100.
Then you can play combos but that cost more.
Then there is over/under. BCLC gives you a number like 5.5 or 6.5 and the goal totals have to be either above or below. Payout is based on how many games you bet. The more games, the higher the payout.
Lastly, there is point spread. BCLC gives you odds on both teams. Say for tomorrow, Chicago is favoured over Florida. So it is -0.5 Chi and +0.5 Florida.
To win, if you picked Florida then you would have gotten it right.
If you picked Chicago, they would have had to win in regular time or OT but not shoot out for you to win. Florida can win in regular time or go to shoot out and you would win.
Again, the more games you bet, the money you could win.

			lets put it this way..
i know virtually every first/2nd line on every team in the NHL
i'll look up starting rosters and starting goalies for each team i bet on
I will find stats like "X team has not beaten Y team at home in the past 9 meetings"
with all that, i will play "oddset" which is basically only choosing win/lose/tie [a tie is a shootout]
and last year out of maybe 35 times i think i won twice?
shit ALWAYS goes wrong lol

I just know if I bet on SA like what B Mac and Rintool said yesterday, I would have lost both games. Grrrr.
My worst FAIL was a few years ago where I was going to be 4 games and play $5. Last minute I chickened out and only bought $2 on 3 games. Of course I hit all 4 games and it would have paid out over $1000 but since I cut it back, it only paid out $75.
IIRC, I bet Nash to beat Det, CBJ to win, Van to tie and another tie.
My best ticket was betting 2 ties in the second round of the playoffs in 2006 and hitting the $20 ticket paying out $400.

Couldn't agree more with Hondaracer. If you haven't played SportsAction before, dont start b/c shit just gets frustrating when the team thats suppose to win, doesn't. I know nothing is for certain but I got screwed a few times when teams like Colorado and NYI decided to show up for that 1 game hah.

yea, i bet 2 $50 tickets last year on the same bet because i thought it was such a sure thing
it was a detroit VS edmonton game, edmonton had their backup, souray just got injured long term, and detroit was on a hot streak
the 2nd game was like San jose VS PHX, again all odds against phx in winning and the odds that both DET and SJ were getting made the bet totally worth it
both upsets and i lost $100 on stupid sports action..

by far the best bet is the NCAA basketball tourney, the final 4 or w/e
in the last like 6 years or somthing, theres only been a handfull of upsets in the top tier VS low ranked schools, 1 VS last place and 2 VS 2nd to last is pretty much guaranteed money
edit* im talking about the opening matches btw

	        | http://communities.canada.com/thepro...preseason.aspx Canucks tried to bring former goalie Dan Cloutier to Vancouver for a tryout this preseason The Canucks have confirmed they offered their former goalie Dan Cloutier a tryout before the Detroit Red Wings heading into this year's training camp.
"We looked at him to come to camp to try and help him out," Vancouver GM Mike Gillis said.
The offer to Cloutier should be viewed as a class move by the Canucks. Cloutier, who won 97 games for Vancouver from 2001-04, was out of hockey last year because of a serious hip injury which has required multiple surgeries.
Cloutier considered the Canucks offer seriously but in the end turned it down after he got a similar one from Detroit.
He signed the professional tryout contract with Detroit instead because he thought he had a better chance of securing a contract there. Maybe even the No. 2 job behind Chris Osgood.
It's true, the Wings don't have the top end talent the Canucks do in net. That may have made it appear like Cloutier had a better shot at an NHL job with the Wings. But in reality, the Wings have five goaltenders in their system. Jimmy Howard was always set to be Osgood's backup, and there's plenty of depth at the position with Daniel Larsson, 2008 first-round pick Thomas McCollum and Jordan Pearce. In Vancouver, there are basically just three organizational goalies, Roberto Luongo, Andrew Raycroft and Cory Schneider. Who knows if Cloutier had a better shot at beating out Raycroft and Schneider for the job behind Luongo than he did beating out Howard? But it is reasonable to believe Cloutier could have got more ice time in Vancouver, especially because there were only three goalies and the Canucks spent the whole preseason split into two squads. The Canucks played nine preseason games.
Before being released, Cloutier played one period for Detroit on Sept. 21.
He stopped all eight shots in 30 minutes of a 4-2 loss to the New York Rangers. The best news was he woke up the next day pain free Manitoba was looking for an experienced backup and ended up bringing in former Capitals prospect Daren Machesney. Whether Cloutier could have earned a spot there, or whether he would even agree to be an AHL backup, is pure speculation. During Detroit's training camp, he talked about going to Europe if he didn't get an NHL job. He may be considering Europe now, after his release from Detroit. |

Cloots is done in the NHL. He was so horrendous in LA that he won't get another shot at a real position.
He might have a shot in the minors or in Europe but not in the NHL. Don't get me wrong...I'd like to see him get another shot at the big time but c'mon, that just isn't realistic.
Canucks were throwing him a bone.
