I was watching TSN last night, and one of the dudes was like "Hockey is a game of hugging your team mates as many times as you can and whichever team gets the most hugs wins"
i had a good laugh

Maybe the original Hand of God goal is somewhat excusable since it was blurry and there's no way to tell with the technology back then but c'mon, we have high fucking definition instant replay... | Yes it's very obvious, on the replays... Refs didn't catch that or the offside so too bad.

Looks like Wellwood is good as gone and I don't think Wellwood is AV's fav player anyways because I remember him benching Wellwood a few times last season. Quote:

VANCOUVER — Points have become as tough to come by as penalty minutes for Kyle Wellwood.
The Vancouver Canucks learned to live with Wellwood as a pacifist who could pile up some points. But Wellwood has the same number of goals as he does penalty minutes this season -- that would be zero -- and Canuck coach Alain Vigneault is losing his patience.
Like a cat on its ninth life, Wellwood is clearly running out of chances to snap out of his offensive slump.
In fact, had the Canucks not suffered through a rash of injuries to their forwards, Vigneault suggested Wellwood likely would have been benched some time ago.
"Sooner or later he is going to have to produce," Vigneault said Wednesday. "It's a performance-based business and our injuries are coming back . . .Kyle is a bright guy, I know he is very aware of the situation. He knows that not only does he have to play well, there has to be production on his part.
"I'm sure he is aware that he is getting a second, third, fourth, fifth, sixth chance because of our personnel situation. He has to get it done."
So far, he hasn't. Wellwood has just one assist in 17 games this season and acknowledged Wednesday that he is feeling the pressure to produce. He also said he has never experienced a drought like this at any level of his hockey career.
"Not with goals and assists," Wellwood said. "Sometimes you go without assists or you go without goals, but to go without both and you are out there, I don't know how many minutes, 200 minutes or something [actually 242], and you can't get a point, it is certainly discouraging."
It's not like the Canucks haven't been giving Wellwood lots of opportunities. The past two games he has skated between Mikael Samuelsson and Alex Burrows on Vancouver's second line and he continues to get a regular shift on the power play.
"They have got me on the second line and they are keeping me on the power play and I think I have the least points on the team," Wellwood said. "So they are definitely doing me lots of favours and hopefully I will reward them this week."
Wellwood had 18 goals and 27 points (and four penalty minutes) last season and came to training camp in the best shape of his professional career. He figured he was on track for a career year.
"I definitely came into the season prepared and hoped this could be a season where I would break out and score 20 goals and put some assists up. I went 22 games last year without getting a goal and ended up with 18, so there's encouragement there."
What momentum Wellwood had after a solid pre-season was lost early in the regular season when he was felled by the flu and then suffered a broken toe. Wellwood has not been able to find his offensive rhythm, but has been solid defensively. He carries a plus-one rating into Friday night's home game against the Colorado Avalanche.
"That certainly has kept me in the lineup through this dry spell and when I start scoring I hope my game will look real good," he said.
Wellwood acknowledged that he has had to resist the urge to change his game in an attempt to snap his slump.
"I tried that in Toronto when I wasn't scoring. I tried to change the way I played, I'd look for breakaways, two-on-ones, odd-man rushes and stayed behind the play more. I ended up being a minus on the season so I know I can't change too much about my game. I have to keep playing good D and making the game tight and hoping that I come out on top."
A laid-back soft-spoken sort, Wellwood does not give the impression that his offensive struggles are keeping him up at night.
"The odd part is it gets easier as it drags on," he said. "At the start of the season, I really wanted to show that I could produce for this team and the longer it drags on you start just focusing on your next shift and things like that instead of the scoresheet. It's definitely difficult. You want to be a team player and produce for the team and when you're not, it's tough to take." bziemer@vancouversun.com

I don't understand why is there no logic on some of these calls.
The instant replay is there. It's shown up on the big ass JumboTron.
Everyone in the arena can just look up and see.
Yet the Ref has the right to override all evidence and knowledge just because he can.

What really happened was Scotty threw over the stick for the little girl but he can't hand it to her so he had to throw it over the glass and the people next to the girl were trying to take it. In the video the girl in the gray/pink clothes was trying to get it and the guy in the blue was trying to help her out (They're brother and sister) then the person behind the blue guy was apparently the father of the little girl or a relative (Don't really know, but they're related)
He tried to tell the guy to back off and tries to get the guy to give it back to the girl then all hell breaks loose as both guys start to brawl and the guy in the blue started to get his mouth punched in. Then the sister tries to help out by socking the guy but that really didn't do anything. Then Event Security came in and separated the fight.
The altercation was just a simple misunderstanding, but if you go to any sporting event the players ALWAYS try to give it to the kids.... If not then they just throw it and every man/woman for themselves.
I agree, this is just disgusting.. I feel so horrible for that girl... REMEMBER KIDS COME FIRST, your a grown person go buy a played stick or buy one from the Ducks Team Store...

Still...not right to hit a guy with his back to you that hard. | Ya, it didn't look that bad but I guess a head hits a head hit. This is the NHL where they punish by how injured a player is, he skates away that's just a 2 minute penalty. Then of course if you injured a superstar with a borderline play the punishment would be increased even more but should you be a superstar causing the injury through a dirty play you probably won't be punished at all (via suspension) unless it's over the top dirty. The NHL really needs to have some sort of consistency with they way it punishes people.

		 | This doesn't make sense. This guy obviously have his "facts" wrong.
So the Girl was going to get the stick, the Brother beside her was going to help her, then the Father reaches from behind both his own kids, and grab the stick and start punching his own son... uhh. what?
The guy in blue is obviously not the "little" girl's brother. He's balding. He looks like a father. the girl herself doesn't even seem all that little. Since when I think little, I'm assuming like an 8 year old.

Then I re-read and figure this to be much more logical.
The brother and sister are unrelated to the little girl but are (of course) related to each other. The sister tried to take the stick and the brother tried to help her (taking it from the little girl). The little girls dad told them to eff off and to give it to his daughter and they got pissed.
So it is really 2 families and not just 1.

I'm no Leaf fan, but it's becoming hard not to feel sorry for the team. They might not be able to score, but with the defence they have, they should be able to keep more pucks out of the net.

It was clear that Neidermayer was going to give it to the girl (he even looks and her and points at her before he tosses the stick over). It just happened to land near those guys. I guess only the people involved would know what they were thinking but I'm pretty sure everyone knew that he meant to give it to the kids. The dad needs to calm the fuck down before freaking out like that.

The NHL really needs to have some sort of consistency with they way it punishes people. | I'm at work and can't see youtube but I am guessing you guys are talking about the CBJ/Dallas game last night.
I watched the replays last night, and they showed him being helped off of the ice. With his helmet off, you can clearly see the huge red spot on his forehead and a slight cut above the left eye. In this case, the hit might not have been that hard, but he was in a very vunerable position and did not have any chance of protecting himself from the hit. His body hit the boards and then his head.
IMO, that was a very bad play on the Dallas player's part. It's not like the CBJ player turned his back just before the hit.

			Bob Sagget!!
I've got a freakin' meeting tonight, so I'm gonna miss the game. I'll probably get a chance to sneak out and get at least the last half of the third period in. I can't get out of it, because I'm on the agenda.
I'm going through withdrawls............ it's been four days without watching the 'Nucks.
