I hope he puts LU back to back. He can give Raycroft as much starts as he wants on the big Febuary 14 game roadtrip during the Olympics.

Harvey Specter 01-17-2010 09:08 PM

Same here. I hope it's Lu back to back, we need the points and can't afford to blow any games.

I'm all for it, but we gotta rest this guy soon. I really hope we can keep him to 70 games max.

DuhDang 01-17-2010 09:50 PM

Anyone know where we can download the Canucks Superskills?

MR_BIGGS 01-17-2010 10:53 PM

^^ Superskills was boring. Fun for the kids. I remember when the price was 5 bucks, which included a hotdog and pop and some of the money was given to charity. Now the tix are 10-15 bucks all going into frenchesco aquilini's pocket.

spoon.ek9 01-17-2010 11:05 PM

a bit late to chime in, but wtf is wrong with the nhl and it's refs? a large part of their argument is that no one can really verify what was said and that burrows is putting words into auger's mouth. and yet, they do the exact same thing to burrows. especially with ron maclean putting words into burrows' mouth on their "Assessment" of the Dec 8th incident. fucking retards all around.

Greenstoner 01-18-2010 01:31 AM

I really don't know about Anaheim making a complete 180 and tearing it up in the second. They've been playing like shit all year.

Detroit has been hit hard with injuries and I think if they make the playoffs this year they'll be battling for a bottom seed. It'll be interesting to see if they can bounce back.

I've lost so much respect for Ron Maclean after his rant on Burrows. Where was the fair and balanced debate? Why didn't he have someone from the Canucks or a Vancouver sports personality that could have defended Burrows? Not only did he make Burrows look bad, he bad the entire team and coaching stuff look bad.

It was truly a low point for Ron, CBC and HNIC and quite honestly HNIC in terms of quality has been going downhill over the last few years. I won't shed a tear the day when TSN takes over.

Burrows should've done this. Well, maybe he shouldn't but it's a good watch and after watching this, I imagined how the fight would've been.

LOL. expelled from NHL if Burrows did that.
Especially with that highstick crosscheck/chop hit

Yeah, didn't go this year for the first time in a while. I think all the proceeds go to charity, no?

Unless it's like all other charity events, where only a small part goes to charity and the other to "cover" costs.

i duno...

with the Sharks adding Dany Heatley and Hawks adding Marián Hossa, they could be the biggest threat in the western conference.

Gotta admit Hawks is doing damn well this season, lets just wait and see how far their goalie will carry them. I got a feeling Chicago will be the first-overall finish

murd0c 01-18-2010 07:53 AM

The hawks are straight up scary right now, I honestly can't see
Anyone beating them. They are playing great hockey And most
Importantly fun hockey. That's what will make the hawks go far
In the playoffs this year.

Team Canada's world junior captain Patrice Cormier was ejected from a QMJHL game in overtime on Sunday when he delivered a head shot to Quebec Remparts defenceman Mikael Tam.

Cormier, a forward for the Rouyn-Noranda Huskies, came off the bench for a line change and cut through the faceoff circle at centre ice, laying what appeared to be an elbow on Tam in open ice.

Video of the hit can be found
here.

Following the hit, Tam was convulsing on the ice before being taken off on a stretcher. The 18-year-old defenceman suffered trauma to the skull and brain and lost many teeth.

He is now in stable condition in hospital and will remain under observation until at least Tuesday. His release date will depend on the results of a brain scan he is set to undergo on Monday.

The Remparts' official team website says fans can send "get well" messages to Tam.

On Monday, TSN Hockey Insider Bob McKenzie took to his Twitter account, writing, "This Cormier elbow is sickening on so many levels. I have never been so discouraged about the game of hockey as now."

Cormier, a native of Cap-Pele, New Brunswick, was traded to the Huskies on January 7th. The 19-year-old was playing in just his third game with the team.

Following the game, Remparts head coach Patrick Roy filed a complaint with the Quebec Provincial Police. They are now handling the incident and have collected several testimonies.

The QMJHL released a statement on Monday saying that the incident is under review.

Commissioner Gilles Courteau says he won't be commenting on the situation today, but the statement said that once the disciplinary process has been completed, the Disciplinary Prefect, Raymond Bolduc, will announce the sanctions.

In 31 games this season with the Rimouski Oceanic and the Huskies, Cormier has 11 goals and 20 assists, as well as 64 PIM.

He had two goals and three assists at the World Junior Hockey Championship, where he captained Team Canada to a silver medal.

In a pre-tournament exhibition game, Cormier elbowed Sweden's Anton Rodin and bloodied his nose. Canada went on to lose to the United States in the final.
Fucking disgusting cheap shot by Cormier. Guy should have the book thrown at him.

AzNightmare 01-18-2010 08:18 AM

Wow... pretty much intent to injure. What was he thinking?
Severe punishment should be handed for that.

Cormier's the captain for Team Canada... Bonehead move from a guy who you would expect to be
more responsible. Definitely not a "captain" you would want players to see as a role model.

411ken 01-18-2010 08:30 AM

Hope this kid gets a lifetime ban with hockey..that should ruin his future!!!! and go F himself... just plain stupid

MR_BIGGS 01-18-2010 08:46 AM

^^ That hit was retarded. Bad judgement, no respect for the game of hockey, no respect.

As for Ron Mclean, just watched his interview with Colin Campbell, and I have also lost respect for the guy.

This was a post on youtube, and I couldn't agree more:
Quote:

I thought the CBC and HNIC as supposed to be impartial. This segment was totally one sided. There's no doubt that Mr. Burrows should have made his comments internally, but if youre going to air the issue then it should show BOTH sides of the story. You brought up Burrows past which is irrelevant and nothing about Auger. You didn't even air the calls he made in the game in question, which is the whole basis of the story.
Ron also tells us word for word what Burrows is saying on the ice when he was hit in the Nashville game Dec. 8th... Unfounded and impossible accusations. Ron MacLean should be the one being fined here. The CBC and HNIC have lost some loyal followers.
TSN ftw. Can't wait for the takeover.

Greenstoner 01-18-2010 09:06 AM

CBC is pretty weak IMO, maybe its just me but i think their TV quality or commentators are pretty bad

Only bright spot for CBC is Jim Hughson and Scott Moore.

CBC hasn't been the same since Chris Cuthbert left. Once the network lost football, they had to make use of Mark Lee, so they stuck him with hockey which is not his game.

I would take 80s to early-90s Bob Cole over Mark Lee for play-by-play of the late games.
