AzNightmare 01-20-2010 08:41 PM

the replay made it look like a phantom call. but from the linesman's POV it looked like the stick tripped up raymond.

mako 01-20-2010 08:46 PM

loser point

Hondaracer 01-20-2010 08:48 PM

imo it could have been called interference more than tripping

I dreamt I was at the Canucks game but it was outdoors for some reason and we were playing the Oilers (I guess because I was checking canucks.com last night) and we went up 4-0. I remember one of the goals was scored by Ehrhoff and the 4th goal was scored by Wellwood or Daniel Sedin I can't remember, but they were on a 2 on 1 and then they tipped in the pass top shelf but went in HARD into the post and was out cold and had to be taken off the ice in a stretcher. I hate to say it but there might be an injury tonight!! I hope not :(:( Anyways, we ended up winning, and now I feel better about sharing my dreams with the intrawebs

I didn't have a dream but am kicking myself now for not putting money on the game. Before the game tonight me and my friend made predictions. He said 4-1. I said Canucks win 3-2 in overtime on a PP goal. I kid you not! I recently read Blink by Malcolm Gladwell, and am now shitting bricks!

That was a bad call IMO. Maybe in the 2nd period you call that, but not in OT.

Greenstoner 01-20-2010 08:59 PM

thats the 2 good pt we needed it !!!!!!!!!!!!!

The Sedins responded big time! After getting bullied around the entire game, they use their skills to show the Oilers a big "suck it". I was on the edge of my seat, at times I thought the Oilers were going to bury the 'Nucks.

Good game!

pure.life 01-20-2010 09:09 PM

the Canucks really needed to play one period to solve the Oilers.
the last 10 minutes in the game was fun to watch as the nucks kept pouring the pressure... again.. I feel bad for Oiler fans as they witness yet another 3rd period lead evaporate.

Not really racist! 01-20-2010 09:13 PM

another S/O by brodeur..

harsh ripping it up

you can feel bad for the enemy getting hit hard or you can feel bad for a rookie goalie scored 5 goals on him, but you can never feel bad for a team.

They will strike back anytime and they wont feel bad about you !!!:p

and that is why you would make an awful ref. you need consistency throughout a game.

Yeah, I wasn't sure. Initially it look legit, but I wasn't so sure after a second look
at a different camera angle. Was just wondering. IF it was a bad call,
karma kicked in to make up for the bad penalty Auger gave Burrows the other
game. (that cost Canucks' the game)

Although refs should be consistent with their calls regardless of the timing in a
game, I can understand them holding off a bit in OT. Although, this one had
to have been called. Because it didn't happen away from play or in the corner or
something. This penalty directly effected a good scoring chance.

Do refs in the NHL (the highest level) not put away the whistles in the later rounds of the playoffs, yet seem to call so much in the first round? I see what you are saying, but often consistency is lacking.

Good game!

good point, sedins were shutdown for a large part of the game tonight and definetely not as dominant as usual. BUT! they still managed to help us win the game with 6 points between the two of them :D

edit: also wanted to point out, this is a good message for the sedins to make. playing them physical isn't going to completely stop them anymore. they're a lot tougher than when they first started out.

Anyone have a replay of the Raymond > Smid hit? I wanna see it again but it's not in the CDC highlights package :(

Harvey Specter 01-20-2010 09:50 PM

Fuck, that was a close game. Have to give credit to the Oilers for playing a pretty decent game but it was all Canucks in the 3rd.

And am I the only one that thinks the Canucks are getting more calls their way since the Burrows incident?

tonyvu 01-20-2010 09:57 PM

damn close game... good win tonight

No. There were a lot of missed calls the other way, too.

It's been played over and over again on Sportsnet.

I didn't think Raymond had that in him. He downright went after the guy.

He's in my hockey pool and he's my number one point getter. Shutouts are worth 5 points in my hockey pool.

I can see it now. The ref is going to get Raymond back next time they meet. Auger is not the only ref in the league with a big ego. After all, Bettman was in attendance at tonight's game.

"You made me look bad in front of the boss. I must destroy you.........."
