yeah i think im right on the borderline of getting no value out of my card. will probably drop to a free or low fee card next year until i increase my spending significantly.

Yah I have that too. Been using it for 2-3 years, but I'm seriously thinking of cancelling it because I don't want to pay any annual fees at all. If they offer to waive the fee, I'll stay though.

Visa Infinite Avion. I believe it cost the same as the Platinum Avion but there are more requirements to acquire it.

I use the Visa Infinite Avion as well...
The requirements to get it is hefty, i think you need to make $50k annually
Fee is $120

15,000 pts when you sign you get 5000 pts every year you renew... 100,000 pts lets you fly anywhere in the world...
I say, get the card if you spend on average $2000/month...

This is how i justify it... I fly to Hong Kong a lot...
If i were to purchase a ticket... its around $1200+ Cathay Pacific
if its going to take you 10 years to save up 1 trip, $120X10 years... not really worth it

I've been using the Avion card since 2006, and i've earned 3 trips to HK... if u spend a lot and have the $, its worth it. Plus you can transfer Points to BA or Asiamiles too But asiamiles is crappy to deal with.

Been using the for awhile RBC Infinite Avion and recently I found a better alternative card in the form of TD First Class Travel Visa Infinite Card http://www.tdcanadatrust.com/tdvisa/...lasstravel.jsp and too bad I just paid my renewal fee a couple months ago for my Avion or else I would have made the switch. Also I have the Costco AMEX and Petro Citi MC strictly used for fuel only

i believe AE is looking to get rid of people. something about a $300 bonus cheque if you clear and cancel your cards with them or something. They've also been really focused on cutting back people's credit limit lately. Might be why

Quite possibly the reason why. Ah wells perhaps it's better this way since I don't really want or need another card. Just thought it would be handy since Costco only accepts AE and I won't always have cash available on me or on my debit.

RBC Infinite Avion

RBC and specifically the avion cards have amazing service, the 5-10 times i Call in to them is well worth the $150/year fee

not to mention all the perks etc.

everyday use:
HSBC mastercard - 1% cash back for every dollar, no annual fee

gas:
Citi Petro mastercard - 2 cents off Petro Canada and Petro Points, no annual fee

cross border shopping and paypal:
BMO US mastercard - for all my USD purchases, no annual fee (although i heard that they are going to charge soon)

still need a VISA though, since there are odd places that don't take MC
