Was spending the afternoon in evening, seems like the weather was the same all around, though the orange sky was quite beautiful.

Never seen so much pollution before in my life, like living in mars.

Now THIS is an amazing sunset! Fireworks on the left, a comet McNaught in the middle, and lightning on the right.

Crazy! This is in Australia btw.

moral of this "STOP LISTENING TO YOUR LOCAL FORECAST"
i thought it was gonna be near 40 degrees... and what the fuck... totally opposite
lighting/thunder warning, no shit... it is posted after they see the lighting.. i can have my own forecast station too

Actually..weathernetwork is probably the worst.

I trust http://vancouver.weatherpage.ca/ and http://www.weatheroffice.gc.ca/city/..._metric_e.html more.

Weatherpage was predicting thunderstorms on Saturday since Tuesday or Wednesday, and it came true. :)

silk 07-26-2009 01:03 PM

^ thx for weatherpage... ill start checking those from now on

SHIFT_drift 07-26-2009 02:15 PM

I went to the fireworks... sure, i got soaking wet, but there was the awesome sunset and lightning show before the fireworks, then fireworks and lightning at the same time... couldnt have gotten much better.. (only if there was no rain..)

Never trusted Weather Network. Always found it to be WAY off. We tried using it when I was working with the CASCAR team years ago, it was always wrong, every city we were in.

I think there's an inherent trust with weatheroffice, since that IS Environment Canada's own site, who are the people most other sites get their info from.

So what was it actually like down at the beach during the fireworks? How many people stayed there to watch despite the weather?

Well, there were definitely ppl leaving, but to my surprise, there were still a lot of ppl. Everyone shouted in excitement every time a huge lightning struck! A lot of ppl had umbrellas, but the announcer recommended we not use the umbrellas for safety reasons...prob don't want lightning to struck anyone! :haha:
Eventually we all got wet and don't care anymore...and enjoyed the fireworks while standing up. :p

JulyZerg 07-27-2009 12:03 AM

For those that went yesterday and saw Canada's display. Which do you guys think is better?

South Africa with Lightning in the background or Canada's fireworks?

xyz123 07-27-2009 02:35 AM

Mother Nature Wins with her natural lightning works and thunder sound effects.. Followed by either South Africa or Canada for now...
