From previous interviews from Buono, he doesn't seem to be a big fan of his.

sonick 09-17-2009 03:29 PM

^ Interview today, he seemed a BIT more open to the idea, not denying but not confirming the question on Pratt and Taylor. They are "looking into" considering Printers.

MG1 09-19-2009 04:32 PM

Looks like Bucko is playing tonight. 7 pm game time. If the Canucks are on TV, me no watch Lions game.

MG1 09-19-2009 06:48 PM

Holy carp, Korey Banks is on fire tonight. Two interceptions already. Buono lit a fire under his ass............

winson604 09-19-2009 10:56 PM

Congrats Buono!!!

Don Matthews was on TSN and what he said about the all time winningest coach record was kind of weird. He said a few nice things about Wally and then said that Wally got those wins by coaching two teams, while he (Matthews) had to get his wins coaching on many teams (including the CFL Baltimore team - remember that?). He's kind of right. Every time you go to a new team, you have to start all over and build. Not to say Wally had it any easier. One of the hosts on TSN later commented on what Matthews said and downplayed it.

It's really weird that not long ago, Buono was public enemy number one when he was coaching in Calgary. He dissed BC in an interview and things got heated up. I can't remember what it was all about, but it was big news back then.

Almost as bad a Keenan and whatshisnuts coming here after they beat the Canucks in the Stanley Cup finals. The only difference is Buono actually did the club a lot of good.

The counter to that would be it isn't exactly easy to keep a team good for so long either. But either way both are great coaches. Go Lions!

i vaguely remember that feud bc had with wally when he was in calgary -- i also kind of remember thinking 'wtf, why'd we bring that bastard here' ... boy i'm glad we did though. he still has MANY years of coaching left in him.

Definitely good to have him here.

Isn't it funny that when tough guys get emotional they really lose it. Good for him.

On a side note (pun intended), it's good to see Kato still on the sidelines. He's been with the team for a long, long time.

Casey Printers signed to Lions' practice roster.

Rick Ball will have to eat David Pratt's shorts.

AHAHAHAHHA YEAH!!!

i think that's 1/2 the reason pratt has been bugging buono everyday 'when you signing casey?'

i can't wait to see vid of Ball eating his shorts!

MG1 09-21-2009 05:14 PM

Holy carp, Buono never did say never. Even last week he tried to avoid answering the question. He went on about Lulay and the other guy. How they were the future..... oh well. Printers. I've forgotten what he was like.

winson604 10-02-2009 07:17 PM

Wow talk about a brutal start by the Lions. They started the year really bad and I was patiently waiting for them to turn around as I believe they would but now on their 13th game I'm really starting to get fed up. It's been really hard watching them this year.

MG1 10-02-2009 10:27 PM

They pulled it off. Barely, but a win is a win. Bucko did alright - sacrificed his body. Great catch by Geroy near the end to keep the drive alive.

The two point conversion by the Roughriders could have been stopped if the two Lions players went for the block rather than going for the sack. Gave Durant just enough time to find the receiver. And that catch by Fantuz was pretty darn good. Old man Miles still has the touch, eh?

So after missing two field goals, Whyte redeems himself by getting the last three pointer and the game winner.

great kick by whyte

To a degree, I can excuse Whyte. He's young, new and bound to make mistakes. What I couldn't excuse was the Lions being on the 1 yard line TWICE and not getting touchdowns from it. To me, that's unacceptable. Yes the Lions won, but it should have been by a larger margin. The offensive line gave Buck little help. Sure, he played like a man possesed, because let's face it, if he didn't, Printers would be suiting up for the next game. The defence bailed us out of what could have been another abysmal performance. At the end of the day though, I'm just happy they won!

68style 10-03-2009 09:41 AM

You guys think Buck played well? I was at the game midfield up high with a nice view and although he did get loose on a couple runs that were nice and he manned up at the end for the game winning drive.... should have never been in that position to start with!

He consistently threw high to receivers and at one point he put Geroy Simon in a position to get nailed by defender stretching to reach an easy pass that was thrown 3+ feet too high... and he missed a WIDE OPEN receiver downfield for a sure 60yard TD (catch+run)... the guy had no one near him for 15+ yards and somehow Buck led him too far on the throw!! Come on! There were several other misfires too... and a couple other times he threw precision passes into coverage that were caught so go figure?! He forced us to punt from behind our own 20 about 5 times in a row at the end when he couldn't get a first down which eventually led to Saskatchewan getting the tie.

Also, don't forget our only TD pass came while Lulay was playing QB.

IMO We won *despite* of Buck Pierce not because of him. Thank goodness Durant was his typical awful self or this game would have been a route.

MG1 10-03-2009 11:22 AM

I was hoping Printers would get a chance to play. I'm not a Bucko fan. Geroy's catch down low was pretty nice. That was all Geroy, no thanks to Bucko.

I didn't start watching the game till the second half. So it was that bad at the first half, eh?

Yes it was damn brutal, starting drive we drove right down to the goal line with ease then got stuffed 3 times. We come back again get stuffed twice at the goal line then settled for a field goal. There was also missed field goals one hitting the up rights too.

carisear 10-10-2009 02:30 PM

man what an ENDING last night!

i've said it before, and i'll keep saying it. You know why we won that game? cuz we got our ball to our STAR PLAYER. he's been a star for so long because you can depend on him. double coverage? means nothing!

still, we should've put it away by the 1st half, but i love cfl!

MG1 10-10-2009 05:25 PM

Definitely one of those WOW!!! games.

Paul McCallum kind of whined over the last few weeks about not getting a chance to play. He gets his chance and nearly cost us the game in the end. He did kick a few really nice ones. At least in the back half of the game. I totally forgot about the game, but watched it from about the halfway mark of the third.

Geroy wasn't that pumped after that last catch. Just another day at work for him, I guess. The Edmonton coaches were like wtf just happen?

I love the CFL, too. Great game, but the hype and level of players aren't near those in the NFL. Better players or not, I still love the CFL and support it.

winson604 10-10-2009 05:28 PM

LOL at Edmonton for the recent slide. Thanks suckas!
