and they run a lot smaller... so that extra room is to cool that extra heat and house the power supply...

I still think the best power supply design was the N64

TOPEC 08-18-2009 05:35 PM

doesnt look that much slimer than the original PS3.

underscore 08-18-2009 06:02 PM

it's 1/3 thinner...

skyxx 08-18-2009 06:07 PM

They say it's 2/3's smaller than the original.

hotjoint 08-18-2009 06:32 PM

I'm happy with my 60 gig :)

check that out, even though the price for the HDMI cable is ridiculous should be $30 less at least :)

SkinnyPupp 08-18-2009 07:49 PM

Don't forget, the old PS3's are now $299 as well, so if you want to get a PS3, but don't want the fugly looking Slim, you can get one for the same price for now.

Amuse 08-18-2009 07:50 PM

I'm more interested about the internals. Slimmer but how big is the fan? Makes more noise than the original? Does the slimmer one get more hot?

Pics of the original PS3 internals for comparison:

underscore 08-18-2009 07:54 PM

^ I thought that price doesn't hit til the Slim launches?

Also does that chart count as confirming the Slim for reverse compatibility? clearance headset and cheaper HDMI cable and you could swing $330 + tax

supposed to be cooler due to more efficient internals, and thus quieter

hotjoint 08-18-2009 07:59 PM

price is effective as of when they showed the slim.

underscore 08-18-2009 08:11 PM

awesome. now to sell my 360

wait if i sell my 60gig

that means all the shit inside is lost right? unless i transfer saved games

SkinnyPupp 08-18-2009 09:00 PM

60GB's go for like $600 in Japan... How much are they going for on places like CL and Ebay?

Maybe it's worth selling, and picking up a new one for $300... TBH I don't use the PS2 compatibility much anyway, since it's NTSC/J region. I did pick up GOW and GOW2 though, which I missed the first time around.

twitchyzero 08-18-2009 09:11 PM

this is bullshit..the old 80GB should be priced at $250 to be fair (less efficient, smaller HDD)

Mugen EvOlutioN 08-18-2009 09:17 PM

wow 60gb goes that high in japan? wtf

is the slim one backward playable?

Bonjour43MA 08-18-2009 10:00 PM

60GBs go for ~$500 here on eBay... people pay crazy money for that.

and this new PS3 is fugly as hell, but I'll probably pick one up if it hits $250 during xmas, on sale and etc.

skyxx 08-18-2009 10:05 PM

600 Dollars really? Damn.

I still have my 60gb model. Bought it in January of 07 and I still have warranty on it till next year. I love my first gen model though :/

underscore 08-18-2009 10:14 PM

^ sell it, get an old 80gb for 300?

StylinRed 08-19-2009 12:52 AM

i did not know the 60gb sells for that much oO wtf i got 3 of em (had 4 but gave it to my friend as a goin away gift)

just checked ebay.. they're selling for $300 -_-

TOPEC 08-19-2009 01:07 AM
