Isn't bitstream sending uncompressed audio to the receiver to decode? Or does that not include lossless HD audio?

you can, but if you are using the fat one, you can ONLY go HD sounds with 2.0 LPCM with optical.

you can bitstream just not the lossless codecs, with that you have to let the ps3 decode it

when they released the ps3, the hardware for the HDMI to bitstream those codecs wasnt available yet so the fat ps3's never got it, but its in the slim now

just to let people know, bestbuy is having a sale tonight ( http://www.bestbuy.ca/marketing/late...gon=&langid=EN ) and you should be able to get an additional $25 off the ps3 slim pre-order unless they exempt it. $274.99 for a slim!
