Not sure about cats, but about a year ago there was a news story in HK about a lonely elderly man who lives with a bunch of dogs.
One day he died, and his dogs just ate him.
It is really their natural instinct...but I am sure any cat/dogs would rather go for other food sources first before eating your dirty corpse.

I heard this is true, at some hospitals they have cats walking around, and the cats choose to nap alongside patients, and soon after they die. I guess they can sense death or something, they're always up to no good...

try it out op. pretend your dead by slowing down your heart rate - go sit a freezer for a while (heck, it i'll be good with the weather and all).
video tape it and post it up so we know the answer.
do it with a controlled subject as well (one when your not pretending to be dead).
