For some reason what I remember most of that place was a poster inside of a kid looking at a bunch of ice cream flavors and the tag line of "Decisions decisions" on it lol.

So many memories going to Wally's after school. Deluxe Chuckwagon. Pinball machines on the side.
The later iterations never quite captured the same feeling as the Kingsway location.
Wally's opened in 1962, I just stumbled upon a burger place here the other day that started in 1967 that I want to give a try.

I remember Best in Town -- A Chinese restaurant used to be across the street from the Wally's. We'd head there after the club at 3/4AM to eat and slam back beers poured in plastic cups.
Had a friend shot at through the window at that restaurant too, back when we were just out of high school.
Oh, the good ol' days.

Speaking of restaurants. I remember "The Only," "White Lunch (I shit you not)," Aki Restaurant (knew the two brothers - lived six door down from the original restaurant on Powell Street), Aristocratic, Frank Baker's, etc. just to name a few. 60's and 70's.......... fun times. https://vancouversun.com/news/staff-...y-and-memories

Fields just down the street where mom used to buy our Lobo and Excalibur shoes. Anybody remember those? They were probably the cheapest shoes you could possibly find. The plastic soles were so hard it would take weeks to break them in haha. | I remember Lobo shoes! I had a few pairs as a kid. They were shit quality but I loved them just cause they were brand new lol. I had a lot of hand me downs as a kid.
My mom would buy a couple pairs a few sizes up, and I used to pull them out from under her bed so I could daydream about when I could fit them.

Well, I was just going through the thread........... started so long ago. LOL.
Anyway, got the answer for you.
The girl on the logo was a blonde with curly hair. Sunbeam bread. It was the best sliced bread you could get back then. I remember how soft it was. Bacon and egg sandwich using Sunbeam bread was heaven. I'm pretty sure it was Weston Bakery that made Sunbeam for Western Canada.

Not too sure about Plum Blossum. | There's a Little Billies in my neighbourhood now. Hastings and Sperling. I could have sworn they used to also be at 5000 Kingsway Plaza at one time or another. Little Billy's Steak House

Damn, so many pages to go through. I have to thank people for their contributions to this thread and to keep it alive.
I also have a lot more to contribute, but need to make sure I don't repeat the stories of life in the DTES.

I remember when I lived nearby in the early 90's getting on/off the 95 bus in front and going to convenience store that was also there.
Moved out of that area early 2000's, apparently their history page says a fire took out the complex in mid 2000s.

I remember the "going out of business" sale at Iwase Books. I got me a very nice Shogi board, as well as, a Go Set for like 75% and 80% off.
They had a subscription service for Japanese magazines and books that was pretty darn good. Now you have to go through OCS Canada, which is actually just as good.

Speaking of bookstores, anyone remember Book Off downtown Vancouver? That place was awesome. Used books and CD's. Just when I got into their stuff, they closed down. Damn.........

Rogers Cable. They sold their western cable footprint to Shaw and left the Western provinces to concentrate on Ontario and the Atlantic provinces.
If you are old enough, you may recognize some of their old logos from back in the day. https://logos.fandom.com/wiki/Rogers_Communications
