this is great news, only because I live in surrey and they wanna toll the port mann. They should just toll every bridge and once they get enough money then take the tolls off at the same time. That way everyone get fucked up the ass and not just a certain city. Gotta love translink huh?

How the fuck do they redo the highway on a road that leads to a resort town mainly used by tourists and people with vacation homes and not put a toll on it? They then toll bridges that people use everyday in there commute because they cost to much money to improve/maintain? Tolling Granville & Port Mann bridges well not tolling the Sea to Sky totally blows my mind.

It all has to do with volume of traffic, there is obviously more people going over the Knight bridge than the Sea-to-Sky on average, hence it is more profitable.

There reasoning also was that you can still take the patullo bridge, which is free. There really is no alternative for the sea to sky highway unless you want to travel 8 hours to go all the way around.

You can't drive around to the Island either you have to pay the ferry ride or fly. Anyone taken the ferry lately? The fares are redonkulous.

The whole reasoning behind the latest tolls is to pay for the infrastructure and remove them once paid off right? I'm just asking the question why toll so selectively? Most of you don't think the sea to sky should be tolled before anything used a ton in the city? Punish the majority and let the majority front the money for the minority? That's fine, it's not really my stance but the people in power seem to think along the same lines so what do I know?

i wonder what will happen if we just change provincial gov't? will this solve the problem? i don't really care if they say about what happened before but the truth is i benefitted during those times when i went to school as they paid for my whole tuition fees, and i'm sure i'm not the only one...

translink has nothing to do with our local road maintenance, am i wrong? that's our local municipalities that take care of that shit. if anything, they should fucking fix that boat-ride on no.4 road. if you haven't noticed already, all roads leading to the olympic oval are being repaved instead. not that this is a bad thing, but it's so blatantly obvious that the real issues are being swept under the rug until the olympics are over.

you say that and yet you don't understand that canada is mainly an exporting country. this country has a history of exporting raw materials and then purchasing them back as finished products (especially from the US). you really think this society is going to pay the higher prices for canadian made products when ppl are so cheap they drive around to get $0.01-$0.02 cents off on gas??

there's a reason why cheap imported products sell so well in this country and others.
