TransLink wants to toll the Knight Street Bridge

Can we just get rid of Translink already

The Knight Street Bridge, connecting Richmond to Vancouver, is owned and maintained by TransLink and could be a likely target for future 'road pricing' plans. Richmond city councillor Bill McNulty worries it could significantly change traffic patterns across the Lower Mainland. "When you talk about road pricing, you're talking about adding a tax or a toll, and as a result we're very concerned that may be one way of raising money."

A recent report highlighted the need for $130 million per year from existing revenue sources to maintain current service levels. TransLink's Ken Hardie says ideas are still in the discussion stage. "The issue has actually been discussed for a number of months in terms of how we pay for the big expansion that we need in the transit system in the region. The real key at this time is to look at the concept of road pricing and what it actually means, how it could work and where it might be applied."

While he understands the shortfall, McNulty says tolling drivers on existing infrastructure is not an acceptable option.

I'm glad they're talking about putting a toll on the Knight Street Bridge. More people pissed off is a good thing. Now we can all unite together and get rid of Translink.

It wouldn't be so bad if Translink was actually efficient. I don't think it is. All they do is collect more and more money and not find real solutions. I'm no expert, but it seems they're not doing a good job.

Well, If they make something like the 407 in Toronto, I would understand a toll and I would willingly pay for that... but for knight bridge? yeah right

Well its bad enough that I stay the hell away from Richmond becuase of the bad drivers.. But if this goes through then I will never go into richmond again... Unless necessary.. But still ghey.

it's a $2.4 billion project to reconstruct, what do you expect.

but new bridges being tolled makes sense, Translink need to have the construction cost recouped. If I recall correctly, that's 3.3 billion?

but tolling a bridge long after the payoff period = fucked up

skytrain is a piece of shit, breaks down almost on a weekly basis, yet they wonna fucking charge me $100 dollars + a month. Aint saving shit in terms of monthly gas bill, the only thing i save is my fucking milleage. fucking joke
