I agree that the current infrastructure is pretty bad, imagine when the Olympics roll in no one will get on the trains lol.

Administrative costs (i.e. wages, etc.) account for a rather small portion of Translink's budget. According to Translink's 2008 report, administrative costs were in the neighbourhood of $39 million, out $1 billion in total expenditures. Even if you cut wages in half, it still won't amount to much. Really, would you drive a bus for $15/hour and have people spit in your face? Probably not...
But, if you've taken the Canada Line, you will notice that a private company is running things. So, Translink is listening (sorta.) | I really liked how you brought up that admin cost point.
But we're not just talking about translink, but other crown corporations as well.
There are plenty of places to make wage cuts in the public sector. Many of the jobs do require the high wages, but there are plenty more that don't require $25/hr + awesome benefits to be a receptionist.
The market should determine the wages. For many jobs that have a huge supply of workers wanting to and able to do the occupation, I dont understand why the wages are so high for many jobs that do not require a lot of skill/education.
Even if we save $2 million a year or so. That's 2 million that could be used to do things like. . . . .cover the potholes!

For shits and giggles, some people posts in the threads talking about tolling Port Mann, Patullo and Golden Ears bridges when it doesn't effect them. I'm sure they feel the same way now, toll that fucker. [/sarcasm] Quote:

Its only fair that you pay for what you use and not have the taxpayer foot the bill.
Its like when my friends and I head to Calgary, we have to pay to use the highway, its only fair because most people who live in BC or Alberta will never/rarely use this route, why should they have to pay for it? | http://www.revscene.net/forums/patul...highlight=toll Quote:

my point was that, despite reasonable logic (and ethical issues), chances are that translink will try to make us pay for that settlement and any others in the future.

like
$2
$5
$10
Not percisely in that price... please no
but do it like how they do it in Hong Kong

With everything said and done, living in the suburbs and commuting is actually MORE expensive than living in the city when you include the added stress, time, expense, etc. So why do so many people still do this? Because they are fucking STUPID!

can i own a house in "vancouver" - tell me where ( 2 br , 2 full bath )
(12*160hrs/mo + 10*160hrs/mo) = 3500/mo gross x 18% for tax =2860 after tax x 12 = 35k per year!
can i own a decent car ? decent = 2000+ without it having to breakdown every 2500km
seems like ur in fantasy land mr.piggy, or u've grown up with money all ur life that you have lost its meaning..

WTF are you talking about?? So you're calling everyone that can't afford to live in vancouver stupid. I don't even know where to begin to describe how stupid you are.
I've lived almost everywhere in the lower mainland.
Burnaby, East Van, Langley, Delta, Surrey, Burnaby (by SFU), Coquitlam, and Abbotsford.
It's near impossible for me to afford a house in East Van on an average persons salary unless I have help from rich parents. If I got kids, I can't live in a condo!
