The Canada/USA game had the highest television ratings ever for Canadian viewership - a peak of 13 million. The Canada/Russia match had virtually the same numbers with roughly 200,000 less than the USA game. An estimate of 21.x million people watched at least part of each game.

Im definitely proud to be Canadian.

we went from "hopefully winning a Gold on home soil" to being the Gold Metal Leader of This olympics and ANY winter olympics of all time. 14 gold metals if my foreshadowing serves me correct.

The Media says it time and time again, the feeling shared watching these events or hanging around downtown in the tens of thousands of people is definitely surreal. There hasn't nor will be anything close to this atmosphere in our wonderful city for the rest of our lives.

Words cannot describe it, Cameras cannot catch it, but its something that will not leave our hearts for a very long time.

And many years from now, I can say, " Yeah I was there "

We did our best, and we truly Won.

We are 2010 Olympic Champions. Go Canada Go!

Great68 02-27-2010 05:57 PM

Yeah we're doing pretty good these olympics. The only major disappointment was the Alpine Skiiers.

Grandmaster TSE 02-27-2010 05:58 PM

PWN THE AMERICANS
OWN THE PODIUM
GO CANADA GO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

my bad .. those #'s are CRAZY.

along my delivery route, all these old chinese ladies whom have never even heard of hockey before, ask me 'did you watch the game? i saw part of it! so exciting!' it's almost surreal how widespread the excitement has reached.

Bonjour43MA 02-27-2010 06:10 PM

I can only imagine the sheer amount of pressure on the men's hockey team right now.... tough place to be for sure.

- last gold medal event that will make Winter Olympic history for most golds won by one country, if we can pull it off
- (to some people/most hockey fans) the ONLY event that matters
- playing against the good ol' USA that has beaten us just last week and coming in with a lot of swagger
- entire nation watching
- knowing that the only acceptable result is GOLD

PRESSSSSSSURE..... lol

The report I saw was 16m people watched the whole game and 24m watched at least part of the CAN/USA game. It dwarfed the Super Bowl. Almost half the country watched the whole thing.

Not sure about the Russia game though.
