So good when mixed with rice but so unhealthy with all the fatty oil in there lol

MyPresIzBlack 10-28-2009 05:26 PM

Plain congee with that is good!

But i saw this at superstore not too long ago!
Imported foods/Oriental aisle!

kwistol 10-28-2009 05:34 PM

wow this brand is so old. i remember i use to eat it back in elementary school in hk. i thought they still sell it at T&T. You should give it a check.

Razor Ramon HG 10-28-2009 06:29 PM

Holy fuck, I remember that good shit!

lilaznviper 10-28-2009 06:35 PM

i remember this stuff. i love it
i think you can find it at chinatown

ray666 10-28-2009 06:57 PM

i remember my mom telling me she read that there were people in china making fake imitation of these. Maybe that's why they are so hard to find now?

KingDeeCee 10-28-2009 07:00 PM

My grandparents said that they got pulled out because they had some substance in them that cause some cancer or disease. Got broadcast on the Chinese news or Chinese newspapers in Vancouver. No idea. I just know that they don't sell these in Chinese supermarkets anymore. If anything, you'll find them in shady markets.

EDIT: Googling this, came with this article: http://www.netnewsasia.com/index.php...d=69&Itemid=67

Quote:

In short, it's heart-disease in a can. In one meal, you get more salt than your body can safely digest in a month, a concentration of pollutants that can only come from a Chinese river, and several desert-spoons full of oil. It's a heart attack, ulcers and bowel cancer, all in one handy portable package.

A lot of my favourite items have been disappearing like precooked Lai Fen?(dont know the english spelling of it) that they sold at t&t

and hot Bean Curd from this taiwanese company that was in a puke orange bottle (cant
remember the name)

both brands are still there but those particular products are gone :/

from Hon's? its back at Osaka, saw it the other day

but with regards to fried dace with black bean sauce, health canada / CFIA has been getting pretty strict in terms of food safety. no doubt you will see less and less of these products.

orange7 10-28-2009 10:47 PM

they were godly, but i haven't had them for many years now

Ax2-Y 10-28-2009 10:59 PM

It's a shame really, that this isn't around anymore.

Hell, this shit was so good, when you ate it, you just KNEW the shit eventually would be found to give you cancer or something.
