Bargaining at Futureshop? I recall that there's a thread about bargaining at futureshop when you buy big ticket items. how do you guys approach this? I am looking for either a Sony KDL52XBR9 or KDL52Z5100 get free PSP? free stands? thanks! |
There's not much $$$ in TV's anymore because that industry is so competitive. Shop around for the best priced, and also try South Van Color TV on 33rd and Main, Smaller shops are more open to flexibility and price matching. Usually NOTHING is given for free, stands is where they would probably make the most money so doubt it. |
South Van will give you a cheaper price if you're willing to pay cash. |
when i got i my new computer a screwed the guy into upgrading my moniter to a huge one for free came in with caash, teased him right until he thought the comission was a sure deal and then i hit him with the, give me the nice moniter or someone else will BAM has to get his managers approval and i walk out with a sick moniter sales is hurt right nao, play it up |
Just do your research on pricing, then go in see what they can do. If you're in Richmond, you can go and look for my friend. He gives decent pricing. PM me if you want. Otherwise, there's www.openboxco.com that everyone's talking about. Grey market stuff, but the price is right. |

the only time you will get anything for free is if you buy the 3year warranty. For example, if you buy an ipod touch with warranty then the sales guy can give you a wall charger or leather case for free. It all depends on what you want for free. The sales guy wants to have their warranty sales high but they also want to keep their margin high too. |

As for buying a TV I suggestgoing to either South Van TV or Visions. I just bought a new Panasonic Plasma 50inch from Visions 2 months ago and within a few mins the price they offered me was already a few hundred less then Bestbuy's advertised price. With companies like Vision and South Van you need no tactics other then to be up front. Literally go in and be like look I'm really interested in buying this TV so just tell me what's the lowest you can gtive it to me for. Their all about moving items rather then to sit on it and hope it sells at avertised price so they have no problem knocking money off isntantly. Typicall places like Best Buy and Futureshop won't just knock off money or give you free shit just like that although not impossible. Usually they will make you purchase something else in addition to the TV and then give you something for free. Typically example would be to make you buy a 3 year warranty and then they will give you a couple hundred off or whatever. Don't waste your time with them imo. |

tell them you'll opt for 3 year warranty (Product Service Plan). Haggle it down to a price you like, and then purchase it. Usually with warranty you can haggle quite a bit, if not get them to throw in a tv wall mount for cheap. then the next day you go in and return the warranty. |

if i buy my TV at Visions or South Van or the smaller shops, does my original sony warranty still work? i know that after 14 or 30 days from BB or FS, anything wrong with the TV i will have to directly deal with the manufacturer. Sony can't deny my claim because i paid cash at a smaller store right? or even if Visions bankrupt or go under. i am planning to just buy the TV and get extended from sonystyle (~$250) for another 2 years after my 1 year manufacturer warranty. i remember bestbuy wanted about $500-600 for their own 3 year PSP on my 46" Z, which is totally retarded. last time when i went down to portland, the guy at sonystyle gave me 15% off a bag without me even asking. and he said something about buying a tv in the states and the warranty is going to work worldwide. it has to do something with their centralized warranty centre. can anyone confirm this? |
you can bargain at FS.... the salesmen expect it, when they're checking out ur item at their computers (the kiosks in each section not the main checkouts at the entrances) you can see it in their hesitation after they tell you the final price if you want the best price though the best thing to do is order from the states, quite a few websites ship into canada and even after shipping/duties/taxes the televisions still come out much cheaper as for Sony i heard their warranty is good across north america |

the most common is a 4 year warranty for 2 year price 25 % off cables and stands |
Remember you can return the extra warranty the next day after they give you a deal. |

maybe i should give sony canada an email and see what they say. at least if they decline my claim couple years down the road, i can have solid proof. my Z series did fuck up after 8 months, and it took them 1.5 months to fucking fix it. i will go to the broadway/pine FS and robson FS, they seem to be more lenient with the "deals" fucking richmond sales reps are so arrogant and have a shitty "buy it or leave it" attitude. |
go to visions |
I never understood bargaining at Futureshop. There is technically no such thing as Bargaining/haggling at Futureshop. It's not even allowed under company policy, |

Visions FTW. Store credits come in handy when you're buying xmas gifts lol |

i got a warranty on my sound system in my truck from visions.. I had to use the credits within a certain amount of time and the total price of goods purchased had to be like $500 plus. I didnt want to spend that much at the time so I ended up not using the credits :( |
