I think seymour mostly appeal to people who are into parks, jibs and jumps. I like jumps but yeah I agree, the craptastic lifts there make me rather go to other places, even if there are no good parks or jumps elsewhere. |
what do you guys think of this? makes me want to start skiing =[ |
u can pull off same stuff with snowboard too, no? |

holy seymour was packed last night anyone went yesterday? |
I went up for a bit, visibility sucked, snow was deep but a little slow. I left when it started dumping, my truck sucks in snow and I didn't want to get stuck up there.... or hit a snow bank ;) |
Did anyone hit up any of the local mountains today? If so how were the conditions? |
Anyone been to Cypress in the last couple days? How are conditions up there. |
I went up from 10-4 today. The snow was awesome! There was lots of powder, especially in the morning. It wasn't extremely busy but there was limited visibility a lot of the time. It was snowing the whole time, and it was getting harder when i left. Posted via RS Mobile |
^ Cypress or Seymour? |
|
^ Sweet, thanks! |
I'll see some of you on the slopes tomorrow ;) Spectre, how is the driving road up there? does it look like I'll die without winter tires? (I know it's mandatory) I wish it was open sooner than 10. |
Just came back from whistler. I gotto whistler at around 8 to find a HUGE lineup for the village parking lot so we went up to the upper village lot by the excalibre gondola. As soon as we got there the lot was full 5 minutes later. To give you an idea of how bad it was. A friend of mine wasn't lucky enough to get a parking spot in any of the public lots so he paid 35$ to park somewhere around the village. Conditions were good until the fog rolled in. Visibilty was maybe 10-15meters. Also the mcdonalds in Squamish was packed at 730 when we left. Posted via RS Mobile |

Check the website before going. It will tell you if winter tires and/or chains required. Posted via RS Mobile |
^ Wondering the same thing too. I'm good, but my friend's car isn't. Wondering if there are any road checks etc. Quote:

I was on Grouse today, 10-4ish, skiing for the first time. My only other experience on skis were two occasions, a year apart each (12 and 13 years old) when I went Cross-Country skiing for 3 hours each time. Needless to say, it looks like I suck at skiing, and it's definitely a workout learning how to ski, when you're so used to snowboarding! Next time I go up, I think I may just take my snowboard instead of my skis. :/ |
^ how were the conditions? cause pre-olympics they were really crappy, as you can see all the bare patches on the cut. and many of the blue and black runs were closed. |
I was at Cypress today, it says good winter tires or 4x4 is mandatory but there were many cars with all season tires up there. Only the roads at the top by the parking lots were not completely cleared of ice/snow. And the conditions were amazing, I would say its the best snow of the year so far. If you want the soft powder stuff you will have to venture into the trees Get there early if you don't want to walk 20 minutes from your car. I got there around 10:40 and was near the end of the 3rd lot |

They've had over a meter of snow in the past week, and it definitely shows. All major runs are now open, including Paper Trail, Tyee Chute, Expo, etc. The major terrain park is not open, as of yet, and the upper portions of the blacks are also still closed. The lower portions of those runs by Olympic Chair are, however, open. |
Went to cypress today and it was snowing up there! surprisingly the line ups weren't even big at all. i hope it dumps for the rest of the week. |
anyone picking up the y2play pass from grouse ? thinking of picking one up |
