Thank goodness because I could not, for the life of me, find out where they are and no shops that carried their stuff gave me their info!

Went on my first ride of 2013! Thought I was rusty but managed to pull through the Colima Road Hill Climb from Whiiter to Hacienda Heights.

If any of you decide to do some biking in Southern California, so far, I've noticed that "bike trails" really are catered towards very recreational riders. For example, you'll see a lot of people on multi-speed cruisers, casual fitness riders and some fixies. Their trails are not designed for commuting whatsoever, or so it seems. One aspect that really stands out about their trails is that they are very well maintained and offer a separate path for cyclists and pedestrians.

Their streets are hit and miss in terms of road quality but overall, nice to ride on and provide at least 3 feet of space between the curb, yourself and the cars on the road. So far, I'm impressed with their infrastructure but this is comparing apples to oranges (Los Angeles vs. Vancouver.)

The Whittier Greenway Trail Overpass @ Santa Fe Springs Rd. & Whittier Blvd.

Finally picked up my fluid trainer in the states today. I had only enough time to set up and spin for 3-4 mins before the kids woke up, but it feels great; way quieter than the mag I tried and the "choppiness" I was supposed to feel when it's cold wasn't noticeable...hopefully it will feel even better once warmed up!

Also finally picked up a pair of Smith Pivlock V2 Max shades from chainlove. They fit well and the adjustable nosepiece means I can get them to sit properly on my big schnoz

Are you winter riders wearing any skull caps with ear flaps?

I went for a ride and I swear my ears were going to get frost bitten, cuz I'm fast like that. But I also got a headache from a cold, cold head. (No skull cap)

I have a thin running cap that fits under my helmet nicely and keep my head relatively warm. I also have a thicker fleece skull cap that I usually wear under my ski helmet, and I can just get my bike helmet on over it.

Can you still get 90s-style helmet covers? They should be better at blocking wind.

I have a skull cap, but this is what I usually use for my rides and during my runs nowadays. Ear bags!

Yes, I have one of those... It's a merino cycling cap that has 'ear flaps' that cover my ears.. But i havent had to use it yet and I'm still commuting every day.

I think b/c i have a merino neck warmer that covers my face and overlap my ears ... once it gets colder i'll use both.

It looks like:

Okay guys.

So here's the scoop on the gear offered by Endo Customs. I went to one of the shops that got kits made by Bobby Endo and his crew - Bike Effect in Santa Monica. I tried on the gear and it feels nice and the fit is pretty good. The quality of material is alright, and by that, I mean good by most peoples standards, but not Sugoi, Rapha, Castelli, Assos or DeMarchi good. For the retail price of the Bike Effect kit, it isn't worth it. Much better to just wait for a local bike shop gear sale or hunt for deals on Backcountry/Real Cyclist/Competitive Cyclist.

So all in all, I think it was good that Endo never got back to us so soon and no longer offer custom kits. We're probably better off just getting a piece of paper scribbling "Team RS.net" on it and stick it on our own jerseys with painters tape or something.

Sooo....I went for a ride in Santa Monica today and stopped by Bike Effect again. Sadly, this time around, I caved in and picked up a pair of these - Rapha Jeans | Rapha

(This one is for 604CEFIRO for being a bad influence)

Which LBS is this? La Bicicletta?

I wanted the Levi's commuter jeans but the sizing/fit is weird and doesn't really work on my fat ass.

So far, of all the gear I own, Rapha has been the best. Their stuff is expensive but their quality/workmanship -

Yea Bicicletta told me. The sale happens on the website

Here's what I figured out on their site.

Bc I've purchased something off their site once,? I'm able to 'recommend' a friend by entering an unregistered email address on their site

In turn, rapha will email out a 10% off coupon. The coupon can be used on their bundle kits.

So I end up emailing myself a 10% coupon, and u can use it on their 15-20% off bundles!

You end up saving ~30% off

So if u ever wanna buy a jersey but not bibs lemme know... Bc I'm looking to get a second pair of bibs

Sorry, I should have clarified. I do not own a Rapha jersey, but rather, accessories such as their cap, socks, belt, and jeans.

LBS = Local Bike Shop

Which one are u interested in?

Their classic jersey is awesome. Made of merino sport wool.

They also have a pro team version, but that one is uber tight fitting and more of a Lycra spandex material.

You'll definitely be happy with a rapha jersey
