As for the smoke, just did a 92km spin in the coquitlam area. It's ok in the morning, it's when the sun comes out now that makes it worse.

Think it has to be through a desktop. You can share the link on the strava app but that's about it. People will have to click on it.

general cleaning, maintenance and adjustments I've learned to do on my own

everything else above my minimal skills, my bike shares its time with union cycles and BSP

Took mine to the Giant store for my free tune up. Then all you really need is an allen key, and a philips screw driver and a bit of research. To be honest, yes, places like BSP does great work, but a bicycle isn't all that complicated and basic maintenance is easy enough that you shouldn't have to pay $60 for the most basic service.

That bronze service

Sometimes it's the tools. I had to put a cassette onto a wheel, didn't have cassette sprocket locking thingy, should I buy one for $40 or bring it into the shop for $10? I mean, how often will you need to change cassette? For other things, yah, always thought $60 (the going rate) for a basic tune was a bit expensive.

I came across Our Community Bike on Main that supposedly, you can pay $10 per hour to use their tools. May try it one day.

Anyone signed up for Tour de Victoria this weekend?

I'm signed up for Tour de Victoria. I feel very undertrained though...definitely not enough distance on my long rides.

You'll be fine. You don't notice the distance when you ride in groups. Spin to win!

If this is your first time and have never done it, I would pay it.
-you get a group of people who will pace you (until the climb)
-semi-supporteed
-amazing scenery + not having to worry about getting lost.
-It's 80km one way and decent about 20 minutes (literally) 80km back.

The first time going is quite a defeat and having something to be there (who has done it) with you is actually awesome.

Luckily my gang have done this a few times so I personally can support my own ass so I don't need to go to this ride.

Damn, looks like the Trek following on RS is getting stronger with Cannondale dying out!

It was a tough route. Worse than Gran Fondo Whistler IMHO. The hills aren't very long, but must be 15% grade in some places. Also, a much more technical route ; I needed to brake hard on quite a few of the steep twisty descents.

One of my friends bailed on one of the turns, but thankfully he is ok. Bike got pretty banged up though.

Oh you rode in the Musette Baker Ride? Did your friend get a lift back?

The descent was gnarly at some points with the potholes..

Nice find! I'm saddened that Trek doesn't offer H1 Emondas anymore unless you go Project One.

One reason I'm afraid of descents is bailing. Love the climbs, but brakes are always at my finger tips for descents. Doesn't help with carbon braking surface and SLR brakes. Ask tomatogunk, I must have annoyed the hell out of him coming down hills when my brakes screech like a banshee.

For sure I annoyed the hell out of the dogs in the neighborhood. Glad you had a blast. Double digit gradients are tough but just gotta spin to win.
