to give you an idea, the company i work for the month of Oct, one of the busiest months for us. we processed 4000+transactions , totaling 350k, of that we had processing fees of just under 5k...

he came from toronto, montreal, east coast. racism like that is pretty common over there.
you have to step foot outside of vancouver/bc even to realize the rest of canada is no where near as multi cultural as vancouver is. Yes we still have our assimulation issues, but go visit montreal, you'll get my drift.
reminds me of my trip to calgary and the gas station. i walk in to pay for gas and grab some junk food. clerk punches it all in, and i give her a 50, she punched something wrong in the machine, and tries to work out how much change to give me back. she blurts out "hmm, you should be able to work how much change to get back, you's asians are good at that!" I still think it's a pretty strong thing to say when prices are labelled quite clearly. The only time I can easily remember getting a "break" was at a restaurant in Calgary where I wasn't charged for tea. If it's a bargaining situation, like for a used vehicle, all bets are off because that's a matter of negotiation skills and isn't solely attributable to being Chinese.

thats typically what happens at t&t | You're mistaken; the customer has already counted the change in that moment that they threw it onto the table, giving the cashier just enough. The cashier is just dumbfounded at the idea of anyone being able to count change that fast in the same way you are, and must double-check to see if it is exact. |

Mostly the merchant don't want to get charged by the credit card companies. Also most place doesn't accept amex cuz they charge an higher rate compared to both visa/mc.
BTW I don't think it is a wise idea flashing your credit card in the club and I have learned the lesson the hard way. Also I could picture Chinese restaurant having this promo once HST kicks in next year "We Pay Your HST" and of course you would have to pay in cash |

It is annoying when some places only accept cash.
It's usually the asian cafe restaurants or BBT places.
But then again, I think it's even more stupid for people to carry 0 cash with them.
I usually carry at least 10 bucks in cash with me at all times, just because I'm smart.

^ Yes, I'm in awe at some people who carry 0 dollars all the time. At least have 20 bucks or something. Oh and speaking of 20 dollars. I hate it when everyone has 20's and not 10's or 5's.

FUCK I hate Asian places, especially ones in Richmond that only accepts Cash...seriously...I always carry like $20 on me but sometimes you just didn't bring enough cash and I've been to places that doesn't say or tell you it's cash only until the bill comes and half the people whips out their cards..

You guys think it's bad here having to go into a BBT cafe or something similar and finding out it's cash only? Try going into Venice and picking up some nice clothing, blown glass dishware, or even some jewelry and paying with a credit card... Good luck with that. I learned that the hard way. Forgot to cash one of my American Express cheques before the cash converting places closed, went out to dinner and only found out afterwards that they took "Lira or Euro cash only, no plastic." Too bad the only sign that stated it was only in Italian... But I noticed a lot of places in even higher end areas throughout Europe were like that.
But here in the LM, I can't be bothered if it's a cash-only venture. There are plenty of competing stores around that will gladly take debit or credit.

Last week though i tried to buy a coffee from some small place and they wanted to charge me an extra $2.00 for a visa fee even though the coffee was only $1.50. It didnt say anywhere that there was a charge and i told her i was paying by visa before she poured my coffee. I left after she had poured it and told me about the charge.

I could careless about the fees the business has to pay, you're holding up the line you twat. I always carry cash unless it's a big purchase $100+ then I'll pay debit or CC.
