you have to step foot outside of vancouver/bc even to realize the rest of canada is no where near as multi cultural as vancouver is. Yes we still have our assimulation issues, but go visit montreal, you'll get my drift | Toronto is the most multicultural city, Vancouver is not even close. There's not even a sizable population of black people, nevermind arabs or other mid-eastern or african cultures.
Racism is more common here. I had never heard the term "honger" or "c'lai" before visiting here. I had never seen such segregation of cultures until visiting here. Toronto's cultures aren't nearly as segregated, and in Montreal almost all cultures thrive together, the only visible segregation is english/french.

Its not an allegation, its truth. | So... I'll go with you and your experience. I do believe you.
"more often than not" you " pay more than is listed"
... why don't you complain if you "pay more than is listed"? ... why are you going back?
I can/do believe you, but if you're voluntarily taking it up the ass, you'd best look in the mirror. If I don't like a place/feel I've been ripped off/it's a poor value, I don't go back - whether it's run by white or brown or yellow people.
Incidentally I do agree that TO is more culturally integrated, but I think if you set foot in Richmond Hill you'll see a bit of Hongerization there.

The price is still decent, food is good, and its not really worth kicking up a stink.
Don't mistake my previous comment about being offended that it happens, I was just pointing out that it does. Quote:

Its not an allegation, its truth. | what's the name of this food court. i have never seen a single food court in richmond that posts up chinese numbers instead of numbers for the prices of their food. hell, even in hong kong and china i've rarely seen chinese numbers posted as the price. Quote:

There's a lot of PQ supporters/separatists/Quebexicans that will belittle you if you don't speak french with them. Meanwhile they don't speak a word of english either. Hypocrites.
My favourite was dealing with Montreal cops. They would ask me questions in french and I would respond in english. Always makes for fun conversations. |

i specifically go to places that accept c/c's. i just don't like using cash.
i only go to cash places if they are seriously cheap, like the dollar store in lansdowne rofl.

Makes life a lot easier if you could just pull out that bag to sort your coins where you can visually see them vs reaching into your pocket random pulling out random coins.
Just a thought you know.

If u have cash in ur wallet, u'r more likely to spend it. That's why it is not a good idea to carry cash.

But in this case, better to spend the cash, when you see your money physically decrease.
Using cards, you just keep swiping like everything's free, and then that's how people go in debt when they can't afford to pay their bills at the end of the month.
They surprise themselves at how much they had spent in the past few weeks.

Its not an allegation, its truth. | i want to know where you ate too. i've been to almost all the food courts in Richmond, i have never seen prices that are labeled as 一二三四五六七八九十, hell even in HK they dont use that except for like street markets or something

Vancouver is probably one of the most diverse but segregated cities out there. Nothing in Europe or Asia even comes close.
As for Asian restaurants charging foreigners higher (English) prices.. yeah I encountered that once in Toronto. Fortunately my friends and I are Chinese. I remember the prices were written in Chinese, and the amounts were lower than the English digits at the end of the lines.
Credit is a North American thing. Everywhere else it's normal to use cash. In many parts of Asia, nobody even knows what a credit card is. One example I vividly remember was this gas station in Vietnam (Da Lat) where I had to fill up my rented moped. The gas jockeys all stood around with a gas pump in one hand and a THICK (we're talking 10+cm) wad of Vietnamese Dong (yeah that's what it's called ) in the other hand. My buddy and I were snickering during the entire fill-up.

i will agree, we dont have much for a black community here in vancouver.
richmond is pretty much asian. there are times i like going there, and there are times when i realize yelling and telling some bad driver off in english is absolutely pointless when they took their drivers test in chinese (yes, i saw it at the MV branch, u can now take ur test in chinese)
hongers, c lai's are terms used to describe someones looks and actions. the non asian version is pretty much a milf, or a cougar even. same thing, different face mask.
and yes, we will leave the french canadian out as they technically hate anyone that doesnt speak french Quote:
