A buddy of mine teaches Krav Maga. Good guy. Teaches down in Richmond Marial Arts.

for sure I have to agree with some of the people here. I wouldnt say martial arts is useless in a fight, as it trains you to become more aware with your surroundings and helps you with your reflexes, but other than that, you're a lone puppy on the battlefield here. There's too many variables that can happen, and all it takes is just a weapon to end the fight.

My 15 years in Martial arts, I have never expereinced an encounter. And if one day that time comes, a simple 'no, I don't want to fight' and walking away is all that it takes to save myself from harm.
