Holy shit that's way to harsh I gotta say... 8 years for a 18yo. $7k of damages isn't that bad... If this was Vancouver that would be like 2 weeks of jail time.

IMO the sentence is harsh. I'm all for examples and paying your debt to society but these guys are only going to come out way worse. I think they should've been sentenced to 2 years, no parole and pay for damages.

court system should be harsh i agree but the punishment should always fit the crime. how do you expect the court system to be just and authoritative when a kid with minor convictions get the same amount of time as alot of rapist murderers and gangbanger (some of them got even less than this) this kid is a annoying sure but definitely not a menace to society.

this just shows how the court system is meant to protect the rich. spray paint somebody business 8 yrs in jail, kill a homeless guy ummm let give you 2 yrs less a day (don't quote me on this its just an example). the only thing the kid is going to get out of this is a rip open asshole or he will come out 8 yrs later as a hardcore criminal cause by than he has no other choices. that is if he comes out alive.

That's fucking ridiculous, there are some serious flaws in the US Legal System if a kid has to go to prison for 24 years for vandalism. He's going to be in there with murderers, rapists, etc etc just for spray painting shit? That's fucked. He's probably what, 18? By the time he's released he'll be 42 years old. Fuck that.

I love how the majority of RS members are hypocrites who want tougher laws at times and lesser penalties at others.
